pencilpusher. just because
Another good game from the Cowboys. Romo looked sharp, completing 75% ( 15-20)of his passes with Austin on the bench. Jesse Holley, who won Michael Irvins reality show a couple of years back to win a tryout with the Cowboys but did not make the team then, had a decent start in Miles place.3 catches for 51 yards. Dez Bryant caught 5 for 67. I think Dwayne Harris, the rookie 6th round WR from East Carolina has made the team as he played very sparingly. Raymond Radway was given some looks on special teams and played well. He is a big fast guy but very raw at WR. But he caught one pass for 12 yards and returned 2 kicks for 32 yards. DeMarco Murray made his Cowboys debut and played well, 7 rushes for 32 yards and 1 catch for 7. Special teams played quite good, blocking a FG and running it in for a TD. Felix Jones looked good 5 rushes for 21 yards and a TD, bowling over a Vikes defender. Phillip Tanner again looked good, 5 rushes 25 yards. I think he makes the team and Choice may be gone. The secondary wasn't so hot, but neither starter, T Newman or Mike Jenkens played. Gerald Sensebaugh intercepted a McNabb pass on what looked like a scoring drive for Minny. Sensebaugh was also in on the blocked FG play. He has played quite well. Dallas has a lot of worrisome injuries but like any team, will have to play through them. Phillip Costa was due to start at center, but injured his knee which probably puts off plans to dump Andre Gurode for now. Speaking of Mike Jenkins, the other Mike Jenkins who used to be a Falcon had a good game, 3 catches for 48 yards against Dallas' depleted secondary. All in all, a good game with a special teams score and a rushing TD. My only complaint was the run D letting Adrian Peterson run free, but he is one of those hard to stop guys I suppose. But they are the ones you have to stop to go next level. Good outing in the most important pre season game. Van?
pencilpusher. just because
Impressed by Romo's and Holley's play from what I saw. I didn't see too much from the running game nor defense though. I sure Ryan will get that tightened up at some point during the season.I doubt Holley makes te team. I think he's just invited because he won that show. He's not terrible, but Dallas has plenty of WR's right now.Would like to have seen Demarco run with the first team, but I guess Garrett will make him earn that privilege. as well it should be I guess. They ran him, like 5 straight plays at one point, which I thought was ******** coming of an injury. I am concerned with injuries mounting up, esp in the secondary and O line. They did have 3 sacks from people who normally don't get them, Victor Butler and Anthony Spencer for two. I have heard a lot about both of these guys stepping up this year under Ryan, and it's time, esp. for Spencer, who was a 1st rounder in 2007 and has enjoyed the privilege of playing alongside Ware and the attention he demands. He should have a lot more sacks by now.Same with Marcus spears, who was almost drafted ahead of Ware. Those guys need to step up or step out. In Spears credit, a lot wasn't required of a DE under Wade Phillips. It won't be that way under Ryan who will blitz from anywhere. Marcus never even saw the field last night. pencilpusher. just because
You know your team better than WFW does but I thought the announcers said he was also playing great on STs and that would help him make the ball club? That would be the main thing he would make it for. TBH i haven't really paid attention to his play this year and was surprised he started instead of Dwayne Harris, but maybe they have seen enough of Dwayne to know he's a keeper. pencilpusher. just because
If you were to cut Holley, I could see teams snapping him up rather quickly. He's been cut twice and put on the practice squad and no one grabbed him. Right now Dallas is just stacked at WR and the way Kevin Ogletree has been playing, he is probably a solid # 3. He has been taking Miles snaps while Miles nurses a hamstring. Garret likes his RBs to catch out of the backfield too, so it's a tough roster to make when the #3 WR might actually be the 5th or 6th option.
