Owens might not play Saturday

Does anybody know why?

From Smitty's post-practice interview today:

On the situation at right cornerback:

Christopher Owens did not practice today. He had tightness in his hamstring so because of precautionary measures, we held him out of practice today. We did get Lawrence Sidbury back out; not fully participating but being able to work with our trainers on the side. If Christopher cant go then well have Dominique Franks play at corner and then in the sub-package, well get Darrin Walls in there to play the corner in the sub-package.

On the play of Darrin Walls:

He has done a very nice job for us. He really first showed up on special teams and thats usually where rookies show up. In the first ball game, he had a couple of really nice plays covering punts and that caught our attention. Hes continued to progress and earned the opportunity to get some playing time this week.

On the status of Ray Edwards:

Right now, were anticipating that Ray will be going this week. Were going to get our first snaps with him. In terms of number of snaps, well wait and see again if there are any setbacks from todays practice that could change it, but I doubt that. We look forward to seeing him out on the field.

I stand by what I have been saying all off-season. Owens isn't as bad as everyone makes him out to be. There is a reason we drafted him and I believe he will contribute in a big way this season. You cant expect every player to be a Brent Grimes or Robinson. Let him get some more time under his belt, he has all the ability, he just has some bad plays every now and again.

I could have gave that exact same speech about Chevis Jackson at this point last year......two weeks before he got cut.

You might want to change your bong water on this one my friend. I believe Busterson had all the ability as well. Didn't turn out too good...but oh yeah he was good against the run though  . Thanks for nothing Busterson, you're next Owens.

Go Walls, because we have no one else!

The funny thing is Owens will probably have more passes defensed on the sidelines and Franks might as well just play 40 yards deep and run up when he sees the ball released, everytime he trys to play from the normal spot he slips, gets burnt, doesnt get turned around, or never sees the ball and shows up for some slight contact as the safety makes the tackle

Owens has played much better than Jackson did when he got cut though to be honest. Owens is not that good, but chevis got really, really bad there at the end.

I don't agree, really. And I definitely don't remember Chevis Jackson giving up 17 receptions in a game or having the high profile mistakes that Owens has made. The only reason Owens will probably not get cut is there is no player to take his place.

Something will get done. Let's just wait until game 1 and see which 53 are on the team. Bryant McFadden may be cut.

The Steelers cutting McFadden is an option like I've said before. Also, the Eagles have an abundance of cornerbacks if they keep the big 3. They are not cutting Curtis Marsh who was their 3rd round pick this year. That leaves (most likely) one spot for Joselio Hanson, Lindley, or Brandon Hughes. We could probably pluck Lindley or Hughes with a draft pick. You guys need to calm down because TD knows what he is doing...
