FalconFanSince1970
Yeah we gotta fix that playoff thing but you can't deny what this regime has accomplished in their first three seasons:2008-2010-Best start by a new regime in franchise history-Back to back to back winning seasons-Made playoffs in two of three years-One division championship-Best record in the NFC = 33-15 (.688)-Third best record in the NFL = 33-15 (.688)-Home record = 20-4 (.833)-Road record = 13-11 (.542)-Best Record in the NFC South = 11-7 (.611)-Record against AFC teams = 9-3 (.750)-Record against winning teams = 10-11 (.476)-Record against non-winning team = 23-4 (.852)Any questions? The most impressive, i think, is that Matt Ryan tied the record for the most wins for a QB in thier first three seasons(33-13) held by none other than Dan Marino. wowzers. To rise from the ashes of 2007 has been incredibly fun to watch. Great time to be a fan of the Falcons.Regardless what the doubters are saying, i think this teams arrow is still pointing up. Proof of that i bolded above. FlyHighFalcons
This shows me a few things:We need to improve on the road or we'll fail.We need to improve our play against the good teams (which we did last year). And lastly...If we get to the superbowl then the AFC needs to watch out... we have their number. Could be another one this year.

JayOzOne
Record in postseason = (0.00)This ^^^^^^^You'd think we were the Bills or Bungles the way some **** blockers look for reasons to mope. I'd rather be the number one seed that got upset than the team picking first in the draft. It most definitely is about looking forward than behind, but some don't see it that way, I guess. Tandy
I show our record in the regular season as:Against Teams with a Winning Record = 11-11 = (50%) 2008 = 5-3; 2009 = 1-5; 2010 = 5-3Against Teams with a Losing Record = 19-0 = (100%) 2008 = 5-0; 2009 = 5-0; 2010 = 8-0Against Teams with an Even Record = 3-4 = (42.9%) 2008 = 1-2; 2009 = 2-2 We only have a losing record against teams with an Even record. We have never lost a game to a team with a losing record.Interesting about the road games2008 = 4-4 (50%)2009 = 3-5 (37.5%)2010 = 6-2 (75%)Further - our last 10 road games were 8-2 (80%) The 2 losses (Steelers,Eagles)

Tandy
thats our problem...and thats why team is not a true contender yetI don't see that as any indication that this team is not a contender. I believe that the anomaly that was 2009 skewed those numbers greatly. The 2008 and 2010 record against winning teams is 10-6.This team had not built any depth - in the second year of a rebuild. We were so injured in so many key positions and our schedule was unlike any ever in the NFL scheduling history since the merger. First time a team has had to face 4 teams coming off a bye week - and a 6 out of 8 game road stretch to boot including North East to West Coast and back in that stretchOur premiere RB, Turner missed the equivalent of 8 games - half a season. His fullback - a key piece of our offense - missed 9 games. Our franchise QB - Ryan, missed the equivalent of 3 games. Our nose tackle was out for the year after the 1st game. 2 other DT missed the equivalent of 5 games. Our premiere DE missed a lot of time and one full game with a groin injury. Our #1 WR missed the equivalent of 2 games, our #2 WR missed the equivalent of 5 games, our slot receiver/kick return man got hurt in TC and was out for the season. Our Change Up Back / Return Man missed the equivalent of 6 games, our RT missed 5.5 games, our LT missed most of the season, our nickelback missed 9 games, our starting safety got hurt in preseason and missed the season, Our Center played hurt the last 7 games of the season. Our kicker should have missed the season - but instead he just missed the kicks. I remember one game where the kicker and punter were hurt - and our DE had to do the kicking and punting. We kept going for it on 4th down.I know all teams have injuries - but we were in the second year of a rebuild - thin in depth, injuries in key positions - critical players. So, yes, it was our 2009 record - but at least it was a winning record - amazingly. The bulk of problem areas in record - Road games and games against winning teams came from this one year from **** in the new regime. I don't think it's indicative of our team competitiveness, but an anomaly from a year with abnormally high key injuries and a schedule designed for the healthiest of teams. CEK020774
Most Cain'ts fans I know were patting themselves on the back after a meaningless pre-season win over the hapless 49'ers. I haven't heard a word since the Texans embarrassed them the following week! :-O
The Falcon Jedi Knight
I wish I wasnt seeing a lot of the same problems we had last season. I want to be optimistic. I dont like our depth. I think our backups mostly suck. We are going to have injuries to some starters, like every season and every team, but Im just not confident in the players we have to fill their spots when called upon. Julio is going to add another offensive weapon, but we are still running Mularkeys offense and I havent seen anything from his playbook since he's been OC here to make me believe that the offense is going to "open up" much. I think we've pretty much seen everything Mularkeys offense can do schematically, there wont be anything new or surprising.I like the acquisition of Ray Edwards but is he a player than can change games? Can his presence make the rest of the D-Line better? Or is he the kind of player that depends on a solid D-Line to make plays? Dont know yet, we havent seen him take a snap yet.Is Dunta and his hamstring going to hamstring the defense all season again? Looking awfully like his first season here when his hammy problem lingered all season. He knows the defense much better this time around but we desperately need him to be healthy this season because if we have to start Owens at CB that will suck.Which Turner will we get? The one from preseason game 1 where he Burst through the hole? Or the one from jacksonville where he tip toes and gets stuffed. Is this O-Line better or worse than last season? Baker still sucks. The right side is still a work in progress. Jacksonville man-handled our O Line, and I am curious to see what Pittsburgh does.We still run the same crap Blitz that has never worked. When you blitz a rookie QB named Gabbert and he sees it coming a mile away and he is still standing on 2 feet after the ball is in the air then something is seriously wrong. Whatever BVG is doing in this department is not working. And we still cannot get off the field in 3rd and Long situations. Same problem as last year. It would help if our defense could wrap up and tackle better.I got my hopes way up last season. I actually believed we were destined. Then Green Bay came to town and shattered all that, and exposed every flaw this team had. I am reserving judgement this season and will wait and see. This Steelers game will reveal a lot about this team.

I think you're counting one of the 2008 even teams as a winning team and you may have missed one of the 2009 wins against losing teams. I think we are 10-11 against winning teams, 4-4 against even teams and 19-0 against losing teams.

Keep in mind two of our three AFC losses were to two of the best AFC teams (PIT and NE), albeit on the road. We'd likely meet one of them in a Bowl. I don't think it will be easy. I'd rather face PIT than NE. They kinda own us.I think we need to keep doing what we do and get hot after Christmas like GB did last year.
