YOU talk to the coordinators.....MM & BVG

Of course this is make-believe. They don't read these boards and that's a good thing, right? RIGHT?

Since I started this here thread, I guess I'll go first:

Supes: Mike Mularkey, I love ya, man, I do. I believe you have a great football mind and can help get us to the Promised Land with your experience as a head coach and a coordinator, but you catch a lot of heat in here for being too vanilla and conservative with your play-calling, not opening up the playbook, all that stuff. What say you?

MM: Well Supes, you DO realize it's just preseason, right? Do you want me to show the entire NFL our playbook this early on?

Supes: No, but we do wanna see Matt chunk it long a few times, ya know? Can he chunk it long on a fairly regular basis and be accurate? You know, stretch the field and all that stuff?

MM: Well, you'll just have to wait and see.

Supes: Been waiting 3 years now.

MM: Don't be a smart azz!

Supes: Sorry. BTW, when are ya gonna call it quits on that roll-out right 'waggle' play? It ain't never good for nothin' but taking time off the clock and puttin' the ball in the stands.

MM: I'll call it quits when he finally completes a pass on my waggle play, ok? I'm determined it's gonna work eventually.

Supes: "Eventually" can be a long, long time, ya know?

MM: You wanna step outside now and settle this, or do ya wanna talk to Brian?

Supes: Ummm,...where's Brian?

Brian: Hi Supes. Whatdaya want?

Supes: Hi Brian. I love ya man, I really do, mustache and all. I think you're a fine defensive coordinator, I really do! I like the way you've been bringing the heat with them blitzes, yes sir! I just have one little question, if you don't mind.

Brian: Yeah, okay. What is it?

Supes: I've noticed that while your D can bring the heat, rarely does anybody seem to be able to wrap up the quarterback and sack that SOB. Opposing quarterbacks look like Fran Tarkenton on steroids and more elusive than Sasquatch. Is there a reason for that? I mean, we all know that Abe is gonna get his sacks and all, but is he supposed to do it all alone?

Brian: Whatdaya think we signed Edwards for? His good looks?

Supes: Well no, but.........

Brian: You wanna step outside and settle this now, or do ya wanna talk to Smitty?

Supes: Where's Smitty?

Smitty: Hi Supes. Whatdaya wanna know?

Supes: Hi coach! I just wanna know if....

Smitty: You wanna step outside and settle this now, or do ya wanna talk to Arthur?

Supes: Where's Arthur?

OK here goes;

vafalconfan - Mr Mularkey, I know it's preseason, but why are you so fascinated with the roll out play?..has it really ever worked in what..3 seasons? And while I have you, what's with the mysterious 3rd and 2 calls that seem to baffle you?..just curious

Mularkey: Next question!

vafalconfan - Mr BVG, why do your players seem to tackle with with their eyes closed?..just curious.

BVG: Next question!

Hey VA I so glad you brought that play up. I hate that roll out play and if he only called it in the preseason I would be ok but he goes to it in the regular season way too much. MR is not a mobile qb that can tuck it and run so why take half the field out of play. The defense has such an advantage on this play it is not funny. Appreciate you bringing it up.

psss, you might want to go back and look at the only catch Gonzo had in the game (a roll out left), or JJ's second catch (a roll out right). Hate to be the one to bring some reality to the table, but that play works more times than it doesn't.

Hey voice there are times you can find that any play worked but I would bet that play has not worked more than it has worked. Almost every time I think of that play I see Matt Ryan rolling out and throwing it out of bounds. Wasn't it a roll out he threw for a pick against GB. I may be wrong but that play rarely works(regular season) in my opinion unless your qb has the threat to run at least a little. The linebackers don't have to play anything but pass and they sag back.

I don't have much to say to VanGorder but I would like a word with Mularkey......

Gritz: Hey Mike, how are you?

MM: I'm doing okay. Anything I can help you with?

Gritz: Well, this is going to come across poorly I'm sure.....and I don't want you to overreact.

MM: Overreact? What do you mean?

Gritz: I have your family. They're being held in an undisclosed location.

MM: YOU WHAT?

Gritz: They're fine.....Whether or not they stay fine is up to you.

MM: Wha....What do you want me to do?

Gritz: It's not so much what I want you to do as it is what I want you to quit doing. Quit calling the quarterback rollout play for Ryan! It never works Mularkey. It cuts the field in half AND IT NEVER WORKS.....If you ever want to be reunited with your loved ones that play comes out of the playbook today. You got me Cha-Cha?

MM: (Shaken) Yes, yes...I understand.

Just like it was a designed roll out left that worked for the game winning TD against the Ravens.
