  1. 1. Would you Trade Michael Turner For

    • NO
    • Yes for another stud Cornerback so grimes could play nickel
    • A stud Safety and another under the rader above average corner
    • A corner and another Decent back to fill his roster spot
    • I would consider it but see my thread to who Id trade for

I think if I were the coach, I would realize that Michael turner isnt going to really affect whether or not we beat green bay this year, didnt have any affect last year either and hes only older and more tired now....but he does still hold value in the eyes of other nfl teams and scouts/analysts and hes only 29 right which is a **** of alot better looking than 30 for some reason in a RB's career, especially for a workhorse bruiser like the burner...I think this will be honestly one of, if not the last year hes on our team anyways.

Heres my thoughts, Trade him, we have rogers, and snelling and from what ive seen, snelling is every bit as capable as the burner, much cheaper, fresher legs, and it seems he does more with less touches some games.

Trade the burner to fill our desperate need in our secondary, maybe throw in baker and get a tackle, throw in a safety and get a nasty safety at least instead of corner and work with owens but at least he will have someone that hawks the ball over the top at all times...but something needs to be done. This would help with cap to get the player, I think Snelling would be fantastic and even rogers has shown he can play ball

This is the only scenario that I would consider for an offensive player trade at this time Baker and the burner for asante and a tackle or something like that.....RB'S are a dime a dozen, we could likely grab another slew of them at any point if an injury came about but i assure you if robinson or grimes goes down, theres no snelling or rogers coming into the game.....Well I lied, Aaron Rogers will be coming in only for a few seconds though until Franks buckles his knees again and Owens gets spun around and loses focus of where he is on the field and then its 28-7 and then we cant hand it off to the burner, the quizz, the snelling. The only handoffs at that point will be us handing the ball after a three and out or a woodson pick.

What do you guys think

I wont give you a hard time because everyone has a right to their opinion, but this idea is crazy. Turner beats down dlines. Yes hes a little chunky, yes he runs really fast for thirty yards then faints.. But what hes capable of doesnt come for a dime a dozen. Snelling is a good backup, thats it.

For the long term, I can see the reasoning of trading him.

But....the Falcons think they can win this year, and for that, they need Turner.

Also....I think you are overestimating his value. I think people know that he is hitting the downslope of his career soon, and the downslope for RBs is historically severe.

dear OP, I apologize for people like this who offer no real contribution to the well thought out discussion you have made. I think you make great points, and if I didn't think the fan backlash would be so harsh I could see this being a decent idea.

that said, if we got a young stud CB or S I'd do it in a heartbeat

Turner has had some big run in the first two games. I'm thinking we should ADD a RB after final cuts.

1-Turner

2-Snelling

3-Rodgers

4-(cuts)

1-Mughelli

Antone Smith and Gartrell Johnson have not separated themselves from the pack. In fact, they have done more to hurt themselves than help. Sylvester has not even earned time on the field.

Smith- 11 yds, 5 carries, 2.2 avg.

Johnson- 1 yd, 4 carries, 0.3 avg.

Aaron

We just got a good look at some RBs in JAX that could be cut. It would not surprise me if we added one of their casualties in place of that final RB spot. The alternative would be carrying 3 RBs and 1 FB and keeping an extra body at another position. Smith has been better than Johnson, but neither seems to have a keeper quality about them.

The lesson from last night wasn't that Turner is a problem, it's that there are problems all over the place and Falcons would be lucky just to contend for division this year, at best! Going to Super Bowl is not going to happen!

I agree with you there, but theres seriously, IMO, Not much of a difference between him and snelling, well up until your cap savings...and another thing that beats down lines is our inability to get of the field on third down because our cornerbacks are so terrible after robinson and grimes....The gain from a corner is greater than the loss at rb

now does you at least see where im coming from
