Supes™
That's why it is preseason......odds are in that situation we are either running or coming out of play action. It was probably scripted to run that play no matter the distance.Good point. peoriabird
And we have won more games over that going on 4 years then any team in the nfc......We also have been in to 10 in scoring in 2 our of last 3 years inclunding top 5 last year........ with our qb top 5 in td passes..and running back top 5 in td rushes.......the ONLY reason we were not in 09 was we missed half our offense for half the year.....But yeah he stinks :lol:And 0-2 on the playoffs. At some point we are going to have to stop wishing for pro-bowlers at every position and start holding the coordinators responsible for our failures. Everyone want to point the finger at our defense in our 2 playoff losses but our offense was just as bad or worse
falconsd56
And 0-2 on the playoffs. Everyone want to point the finger at our defense in our 2 playoff losses but our offense was just as bad or worseThis is true but hardly a reflection of just Mularky. What has made the biggest impact on us in the playoffs were turnovers.Aslo it was not Mularky that bit on a play action on 3rd and 16.......... nor was it him who missed 4-5-6 sacks on rogers. RCOCHARLIE
MM sucks... get ready for much of the same... two tight ends and tip-toe turner gettin stopped for a loss.... and our defense blowing it on third and long...the best thing i saw last night was the five receiver set.... Radical
Everyone want to point the finger at our defense in our 2 playoff losses but our offense was just as bad or worseBS. There's no way you can put the place the majority of the blame on the offense for either of those losses. 3rd and 16? Not a single forced punt? You kidding me? I will gladly be the first to light the torch for the soon to be mob wishing to fire Mike Mularkey.Oh please. Idiots have been calling for his head since 08, and idiots will continue to complain about him as we have another Top 5 NFL offense. By your logic, Mularkey must be one of the best OCs of all time with the amount of whining about there is about him. As you said, negativity means he's doing good. The more people complain, the better he is, right?
Tandy
Now THAT did bother me, especially on 3rd and short. We're a fine running team, I don't get it.If it was regular season, that backfield would not have been empty. They KNOW the running back can get it done on 3rd and short. They weren't out there to win that game, but to find areas that need improvement and see things they aren't sure of while evaluating. The backfield was empty because they wanted to see how the defense reacted and how the offense pulled it off. Now, they have something else to work with and on. *TMo*
Mike Mularkey is one of the finest offensive minds and best offensive coordinators in football. He knows how to win with sound football principles. You guys play way too much Madden. This is the NFL. This is real football with real football players. PAY ATTENTION! Tandy
Every year people show up with "MM isnt going to show our plays in preseason" then its "MM is saving our plays since we have to play the Bucs/Saints twice", then "MM is saving some plays for the playoffs". Then after the season is over we finally admit this guy stinks. This is going on 4 years now.2010 we were 31st in Offensive scoring in the preseason and 5th in the regular season.2009 we were 31st in Offensive scoring in the preseason and 13th in the regular season 2008 we were 30th in Offensive scoring in the preseason and 10th in the regular seasonYou honestly can't see a pattern there? GuerillaOntology
Why would our coordinators have the entire playbook on display in meaningless games, especially one where we have to face that team later on in the regular season?Selfish scrot-munchers.Cheers,GO
Psychic Gibbon
1) The coordinators run vanilla as possible offenses and defenses in the preseason2) It was the O-line that was causing the offense to struggle last night. They weren't opening up holes for the run game or giving Ryan enough time in the pocket. It's something to expect in a preseason with the offseason the NFL just had where the O-line hasn't been able to build up the chemistry it needs. It will have some hiccups. Tandy
What about postseason?2008 = Ranked 4th in scoring with 24 points per game.2010 = Tied for 8th with New England with 21 points per game. The mere fact that you now want to compare preseason play to postseason play .... mind boggling.
Califalconfan84
Ive been fooled 3 years in a row. As Ron White says " You cant teach stupid" Hey you, shhhh, I'm trying to be quiet here, but you might want to fix that before anyone notices. Ron White's line is "you can't FIX stupid" Oops, my bad. mcsupersport
This is what I posted to a very similar question on another board, it fits here.....The choice had to be made, do you want to grind out the offense, and try to keep the defense off the field or strike quick and put a young defense back on the field to maybe get tired late game. The stinker of an issue is our offensive line DIDN'T hold long enough on a regular basis to give 3-5 seconds to let the long plays develop, and we really only had one real playmaker on offense that could regularly get open and catch the ball(Roddy). TG is a good guy, but he is slowing down, and can only really get 5-12 yards on 3-5 step drops. Jenkins was just meh, good straight line speed, and if you had a great o-line he could outrun most coverage, BUT we didn't and he couldn't catch a cold when covered tightly(ie he never fought for the ball), and generally a #2CB could take him out of the game. While a #3 WR in the slot would be nice generally, our pick last year blew a knee, HD was still recovering and had mental issues of catching the ball, and Weems was needed more on PR/KR and wasn't really proven(and young). So with no real threat other than Roddy and TG to throw too, teams doubled them and packed the box. We just didn't have the team last year to really run a high powered offense, yeah it could be better, but generally we couldn't match up in shoot-outs, but we could grind out games. Now the real test is this year, and I really think people will be happy with what happens, even if MM doesn't call it much different, simply because of personnel on the field will dictate defensive changes. Think about it, Double Roddy, and drop a Safety down into the box, leaving JJ on an island with a smaller CB?? How will that work do you think?? Ok, leave the safeties high, with Turner in the backfield and Ovie blocking... that can easily leave Turner one on one or even a free lane until he gets to a safety maybe 5-20 yards down field. Put Snelling in the backfield with HD in the slot....who gets doubled and who is singled?? Roddy, JJ, HD and TG all on the field who do you double and who do you let go?? This year with healthy receivers, the recovery of HD and Meier all allow a great threat everywhere on the field thus making defenses cover EVERYONE instead of a few. As they are playing RIGHT NOW we are stacked at receiver and all of them can make plays, heck even Weems is making plays at WR.
Falcon Fred
i hope these idiots that bash mularkey realize WE ARE NOT RUNNING OUR REAL OFFENSE!!! get real people what kind of logic do some of these so called fans have.. its like there thinking "lets fire our OC in preseason, Because he is calling BS plays for a game that means nothing, and yet I havent seen what our offense looks like in 2011 nor have I seen a regular season game I say we fire Mularkey" really some of these fans amaze me!
