swift
Can't help yourself, can you Swifty?Im just calling it like I see it ..`Its on a pre season game but just all around the offense still look vanilla and predictable . The Harry Douglas big play was a 15 yard slant that S took a terrible route to and Douglas made a play

RazorTalon
I bet the pats didn't gameplan last week when they put up 47 points on this team... WITHOUT Tom Brady. Now I don't think the sky is falling... It is preseason but MM does need to open the play book up. You have a 5 receiver set SOMEBODY needs to run a fly so if Matt gets in trouble he throws it up and hope somebody makes a play... these 5 - and 10 yard in routes aren't going to cut itI totally agree, with the firepower that we have now we should open it up, and scheme better. But as many have said, we do play these guys in the regular season and we really don't need preseason wins to be successful in the regular season. MM better prove something this year though, Im frustrated with the vanilla playcalling of the past too.

Banned
I'll reserve judgment for Mularkey's malarkey until the end of the season. I just hope this thread doesn't turn into one of those I told you so type of threads.

KANE337
The Colts have had double digit regular season wins for about 10 years. They have only won 4 preseason games since 2005. Just sayin'

hammerhead
Does anyone think the Jags showed there game plan ? No they didnt! ,yet they still out played the falcons .. what i'm trying to say is with all the talent were suppose to have you would think it would be easy for MM to come up with something to at least to put together some drives that put points on the board.. he keeps rehashing the same old offense year after year even though we go out and give him weapons that would make any offensive coordinator look like a genius.. Oh I forgot hes the Genius that puts in the lets roll right and throw a three yard pass and hope for the best.. or lets throw the five yard outs ... Geez ifs its just pre season and were going to not worry about winning lets put the ball in the air and down the field ..

cwell1
I LOVE how people act like we just started watching football 2 days ago. Like I haven't watched the Falcons and the NFL for over 2 decades now aka my whole life. Yes I know its preseason. and what I see is the same ive seen during the regular season for years, nothings changed. Its just pre season my a**

Falcon Fred
people are dumb for jumping the gun on mularky.. its preseason im sure the score is the least of his concern when hes calling plays...

krammmit
I dont believe the run plays are MM's fault. look what happened when he let Quizz run, I just think its Turner. He doesnt look the same. He is reminding me of Lendale White, and i hate lendale. We ran Turner down. He is amazing at the goal line but our line is having a hard time opening big enough holes for him to run through. lets be honest hes not the smallest guy on the field. If we can reserve him, maybe get another rb to split, sort of like Dallas did with Barber, Jones, and Choice. Im not calling any of our rb barber, Jones, or Choice but it would be similar running styles if Barber = Turner, Jones = ?, Choice = Quizz. IS Slaton still out there? ill look into that. EDIT: I guess Slaton wasn't a free agent. huh. Edited August 20, 2011 by Krammmit
paulitik
I have no problem with conservative play if I actually believed that MM was using Subterfuge instead of doing almost the same thing we saw on MNF last year. I have watched 3 years of hard headed stubbornness from this guy who won't let go of his outdated philosophies. I imagine the organization's push for explosion as something being pushed on him, not the other way around. Maybe I'm wrong, and we are just hiding our cards, but man you can't look like that with all that talent on the field.
Wokezone
Why are we not launching it? Because those are exactly the type of plays players get hurt on. Save it for season. I dont care if we dont throw anything over 10 yards until regular season starts. I dont care if we go 0-4 in preseason if we are healthy and showing out in regular season
atlGM
MM deffinetly needs to step it up.I've been saying this for the pass two season and Im not sure he has the pedigree to make our weapons work. We have new guys on offense and this is the time to get them acclimated to the offense. I did recognize that we passed on third and short twice but with no success is my problem. Other teams have way less weapons than we do and seem to pass the ball much better. It really seams that the only time MM dials up successful passing drives are on the lasts drives of the game when we need a score. Now that sounds good but the vanilla play calling throughout the game is y we always are in close games. Sooner or later this style will catch up with us.Personally i dont think MM has it in him to open up our pass offense.I hope im wrong but he hasnt shown it since hes been here. falconsd56
Every year people show up with "MM isnt going to show our plays in preseason" then its "MM is saving our plays since we have to play the Bucs/Saints twice", then "MM is saving some plays for the playoffs". Then after the season is over we finally admit this guy stinks. This is going on 4 years now.And we have won more games over that going on 4 years then any team in the nfc......We also have been in to 10 in scoring in 2 our of last 3 years inclunding top 5 last year........ with our qb top 5 in td passes..and running back top 5 in td rushes.......the ONLY reason we were not in 09 was we missed half our offense for half the year.....But yeah he stinks
falconsd56
Now THAT did bother me, especially on 3rd and short. We're a fine running team, I don't get it.That's why it is preseason......odds are in that situation we are either running or coming out of play action. It was probably scripted to run that play no matter the distance.
