I find it very funny that when it comes to other teams/players "it's only preseason" "it doesn't mean anything" is thrown around a lot. I wonder what the boards reaction would be if our falcons 1st team performed as bad as the eagles starters did last night.

Thing is they wouldn't, at least not as they're constructed right now. Andy Reid should have cut bait about halfway through the 1st Qtr.

Their offense will improve. I don't think it will be as unstoppable as people seem to think it will be, but it will be something you don't want to face. Their defense, on the other hand... Their D-line is built solely for pass rush, their linebackers would be backups on pretty much every other team, their safeties aren't great, and their CBs (especially Asomugha and Samuels) are some of the worst tacklers for their position in the NFL. If your offense has a decent run game then you can just run the ball down their throat which will force them to stuff the box to stop it which will then help in the passing game because that will be opened up for big plays.

I get really annoyed with the whole "Preseason is meaningless" BS.

The only thing about a preseason that doesn't matter is the final score. I can see a direct correlation between our Preseason games with the Pats and Chargers the last few years and our performances in the regualr seasons following.

I don't think it means much in the great scheme of things....Eagirls are still going to be formidable in the NFC.

I will say this though: My favorite thing that has happened in the past few weeks in the NFL is the Vince Young self-declaration of the Eagles as the Dream Team. Huge target put on them and I couldn't be happier about that.

Screw the Eagles.

Screw the Pack.

Screw the Taints.

If you aren't the Falcons you're dead to me.

I think so too, here's what I'd like to see from the Falcons first two games- first game, want Ryan to pass for 350 yards, 4 TDs- run just enough to keep the bear's D off balance. Let the world know that the this is not the same old dink and dunk O.

Then, against the Eagles, just ram it down their throats- have Turner, Snelling and Quizz just run and run and run, sprinkle in some play action passing to keep the D off balance. Get 300 yards on the ground.

Then what are coordinators going to do? Stop the run, they'll pass all over you, play the pass, they'll run you into the ground.

On D, if Falcons can get pressure on Cutler & Vick, esp. with just the front four, they'll give the ball up, both of them will throw picks/fumble under pressure.

Steelers looked scary.

As a Steeler fan, we have some issues that need to be corrected. At corner, Ike Taylor did not play because he has a broken thumb. He is expected to be back by the regular season, but losing your best corner, the #1 guy, hurts. On top of that, Bryant McFadden was out and he is the other starter. They were also without 2nd year guy Crezdon Butler who we hope steps up this season and rookie Cortez Allen. The corner position was very thin. They signed two guys off the street this week so they had enough to play. It is weak. We need young guys to come alive and our vets to get healthy. Polamalu looks healthy. We are a different defense with him. Harrison also played and he gives a big boost. Luckily, they have quality and depth in the front seven on defense. That is our strength.

On offense, I would stack our top 5 WRs with any in the league. Ward is not a burner, really never was, but he is crafty and wiggles open. He is tough, has good hands, and just keeps going. Wallace may be the most explosive guy in the NFL. His speed is legit. He has developed his route running. He is nasty, flat out nasty. He is the best young WR the Steelers have had since Lynn Swann. Manny Sanders is hurt, but he showed a lot last season. He would have been a focal point in the Super Bowl, but he broke his foot. Antonio Brown has been excellent so far. His development is shocking. Then, they added Jerricho Cotchery. It is an embarassment of riches. I like Mendenhall and Redman at runningback and Miller/Roethlisberger are as good as ever. If we can get a little depth at TE and our OL can do anything, this team can be pretty good. We could use a better LT and need someone to step up at RG.

I think they take the division and make the playoffs. That is all I ever hope for because once you get in the playoffs, anything can happen. It takes some luck then. I cannot wait to matchup against the Falcons next week. It should be another good matchup and test our team.

even in preseason , when your number 1 team looks that bad, it measn something, especially when you annoint yourself the "dream team". ask the guys trying to make the team if it matters. i know ask Terrell Davis if it matters, he was on the way out the door when "BOOM" he makes the team with a crushing tackle on ST.

i dont concern my self with score as much as performance, and YKW's was bad :) i dont get all bent out of shape when thier number 2 or 3 teams beats our number 2 or 3 team, what are the chance our whole #2 team will be forced into action. maybe a backup or two, and then he'll have talent around him.as long as a

I look forward to it as well. Being the 3rd week, we should see more of the starters.

I did note that your corners were not your starters, but the quality of your depth was outstanding. They did a really good job out there, much better than the "dream" corners who, other than Revis are supposed to be the best of the best and unbeatable.

I agree about the playoffs, anything can happen once you get there. It seems the 6th seed has been roaring the past several years, that's for sure.

I wish you guys luck in the regular season, I always follow the Steelers, they were my first team before we got a team in Atlanta that stole my heart away. Still, they are my second favorite - I love a good defense and I've always loved the lunch pail mentality.

I do not, however, wish you luck next week (lol)

I was a Johnny U. & Colts fan before we got the Falcons. If I had to pick a second favorite now, I don't know. Might have to be the Steelers too. The Cowboys are referred to as "America's team". I don't think so. The Steelers rep blue collar and like you say, that lunch pail mentality w/ great defenses are always a lot of fun. Not to mention there is no bad blood between Falcons & Steelers fans.

I hope to live long enough to see us build the kind of tradition in Atlanta they have in Pitt.

Looking forward to seeing Matt Ryan and co. next week. Always a fun match-up when the Steelers play the Falcons. The 3rd game of the pre-season is the most important one to see where your team is, going into the regular season. I have nothing, but respect for your squad. Hope it's injury-free and hard fought football. Good luck with the 2011/12 season and hope to see you in Indy?
