Peelle released

Recommended Posts

The big question will be, does Palmer become #2? I believe he does.

I always think of #2 as the decoy or blocking TE. Palmer has good hands. He's built more for catching than blocking which is Kelly's spot. He'll be out there for sure though because from what I have heard he has had a decent camp and they need to get him live action sometime before next year.

We all know he has a knee injury. If you read the report they said it must have not been a serious injury thus resulting in a quick injury settlement.

Regardless of what the report says, I think it was serious enough to make them go look for Kelly. He was definitely going to be out a while.

Injury settlements usually occur in cases where a team would have liked to upgrade the roster spot of the injured player anyway. The settlement has the dual effect of treating the injured player fairly and at the same time freeing up a roster spot. After a settlement, it's very unlikely that the injured player will return, so I think we've seen the last of Peelle, which I regret. He was about as un-spectacular as they come, but always reliable and there when Ryan needed him.

As for Kelly filling the #2 spot, I think that's only because his skill set is the same as Peele's and it makes sense to slot him the same way. It doesn't mean the staff thinks Palmer can't contribute, only that he's not primarily a blocker like Peelle or Kelly.

Wow...it was that bad?...sheesh!

Actually, because we reached an injury settlement so quickly, there's a chance the injury isn't too serious at all.

Several writes(not just D-Led here) have speculated that Peele could re-sign here or sign elsewhere around mid-season after he recovers.

That said... still have yet to hear what the exact nature of the injury was.
