Asante was the best coverage CB in the NFL last year. He was thrown at only 46 times last year and gave up just 21 receptions. QBs had a rating of 31.7 when throwing his direction. The longest catch he allowed last season was 25 yards.

Chris Owens on the other hand gave up 17/20(0 PDs) passes for 169 and 2 TDs... IN ONE GAME(Bengals). It should be cause for a ban to put those two in the same breath as each other.

He thought it was going to be a slant cause they had the blitz on. Asante takes chances. That's why he always will get INTs and give up TDs. Take the good with the bad

thank you!!!! at least someone knows football, everybody SHOULD kno that if a defense blitz, the offense should have a ''hot route'' which is either a slant a hitch or a screen, something to get the ball out quick. so asunte did the right thing expecting a quick route, but i still dnt want him either way...

It boggles my mind as well, these "Crisp" defenders will go to any means to justify him. I watched that scalding "Crisp" took(Bengals), but the stats you posted take "Crisp" to another level...Extra Crispy.

Samuel doesnt fit their new press man scheme at all and it was evident on that play. He'd be a beast outside corner in our scheme. Almost the exact same skillset as grimes.

No way the eagles trade him here though

I agree.

Besides, Samuel has always had a reputation as a gambler. For every play he gets burnt on like that TD pass, he'll come right back and make a huge INT. He's extremely talented and would work fantastic in our system. Too bad he's stuck in Philly.

samuel doenst have the same skill set as grimes, i dnt think any CB in the NFL really doesn.. samuel is a gambler, grimes uses his vertical and quickness to get his INTs...

We seem to make a lot of excuses for other teams players and dog our own. At one point or another just about every Falcon starter has been bashed including Matt Ryan, Roddy White, William Moore, Grimes, Dunta Robinson, Weatherspoon, Blalock, Weems, Douglas, Corey Peters, Jerry, Biermann, Vick when he was here etc. I think that we need to start giving our players the benefit of the doubt. The darn team was 13-3 last year for goodness sake... Things can't be as bad as y'all make them out to be.

tell me about it... but a lot of ppl just keep doing it cause they just as jealous of other teams for some crazy reason.. i dnt get how u can cheer for a team that u bash just as much... but hey i support my team and yes that includes owens as well...

Bad thread? I just stated a fact! The fact is Asante Samuels was beaten by some second string receiver on the Steelers team in that game and those are the facts and they are undisputed.

And then you tried to compare him to Chris Owens... failing to mention that Asante was the best cover corner in the NFL last year while Chris Owens has been beaten silly the last two times our coaches have had the misfortune of putting him on the field.

This would be like if you compared Peerless Price to Jerry Rice in his prime because both of them dropped a pass at some point.

+1 Chris Owens being compared to Asante Samuel is like comparing a Pinto/Gremlin to a Bentley.
