"I'm very proud of him for the leadership and hard work he has shown not only during camp but also during his three years at Auburn. Barrett has a great opportunity to represent and lead this football team moving forward. Barrett understands the huge responsibility that comes with being the starting quarterback at Auburn and we are confident in his ability to lead this team."Trotter spent the spring battling redshirt sophomore Clint Moseley for the starting spot left by Heisman Trophy winner and eventual No. 1 NFL draft pick Cam Newton.Both quarterbacks ended the spring even and welcomed a third member to the competition this summer with the arrival of true freshman Kiehl Frazier, a dual-threat quarterback rated as the nation's No. 2 quarterback in the 2011 recruiting class."These decisions are extremely tough when dealing with such competitive young men who have a strong desire to excel," Chizik said. "Clint Moseley and Kiehl Frazier worked very hard and it's been a great competition that will make our young team better. Clint and Kiehl both have a lot of ability and will continue to improve. I've been a big critic of Auburn and Chizik on this board, but I have respect for what Malzahn has done and I'll watch Auburn just to watch his offense run. He's deceptively athletic - he won't have 1/4 of Newton's rushing yards but he'll get them where they count. It was the right decision to make, and the inevitable one. He has the most experience of our QB's period, and the most experience in Malzahn's system. I'm very excited to see what Frazier can do, but it's too soon for him. He will bring a Newton-like style to our offense again. It will be interesting to see the QB competition next year when all 3 QB's currently on the roster are still there and Zeke Pike arrives.
