If a lawyer can come up with any way to prove either the player knew about Shapiro Ponzi scheme or that was directly Ponzi money he was using for the hoe's and the party. People will come to get their money back from the players.
calidawg
Out Of Beason, Vilma and Winslow who will talk first?Who took more money? Why did Winslow take money anyway isn't his dad in the HOF?Who will be hurt by this more?I doubt Beason got much of anything. He wasnt a very big recruit. Cant speak on Vilma cause he was before the days of recruiting rankings. Kellen Winslow on the other hand....hes a soldier, so we all know he wont spill the beans. Greg Olsen may be a wildcard here.
koolkat
no chanceI didn't think McDonalds could be sued for serving hot coffee but we all know how that ended.
koolkat
the two situations are not even comparable. just because you didn't think one situation was likely or possible doesn't mean that other things are.I agree the McDonald's situation was ridiculous just like I think it is ridiculous that the makers of clothes irons have to put a warning on it for people not to iron clothes that are being worn at the time. however, in both those situations they were still lawsuits that were against somebody directly involved and not some ancillary that may or may not have had knowledge of what was going onWe are talking about how eager a lawyer is and what they can prove in a court of law. Not to mention it's seem like Shapiro has a axe to grind nobody know what evdience he might have stashed a way. Plus he is not just mad at the school he is also mad at the player he thought were his friends. This was a felony where alot of people lost their money. They are still going after people who were close to Bernie Madoff.
koolkat
they would have a much better chance of going after UM than any individual playersthere really is no evidence he could have that would definitely prove that the players knew that this was the source of the money. proving that individual players KNEW with 100% certainty that the money was coming from this AND that they players would have the understanding of what was going on would be impossible. Even if he could prove that he told some of the players about it, they could always claim that they thought he was joking or that he TOLD them he was joking.Dago i agree with you but in a court of law If enough witness can convince either a jury or a judge that they knew no matter what you say they may come after the money that he gave them.
