I Even Bleed Red
Off the top of the head some of the better QBs under 30 are: Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, Mark Sanchez, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Rothlisberger, Philip Rivers, Matt Stafford, Josh Freeman, Jay Cutler, Sam Bradford, Matt Castle, Kevin Kolb, and Kyle Orton. Did I forget someone? (If so, they're probably not that good )I don't want to take the obvious pick and say Aaron Rodgers. I don't want to take the homer pick and say Matt Ryan. I seriously expect Rivers, Freeman, and Orton to put up solid numbers. I don't know why but I would like to see Bradford do well this year. I don't know why but I don't want Sanchez to do well this year. I won't be surprised if any of these guys have a breakout season. From the first (and the only) preseason game, it seems Ryan has been working on throwing deep, and with our teams' commitment to be more explosive, I expect Ryan to be in the top 3 on that list in every category. I hope he has his breakout year this season. If not now, then it will be soon...very soon. We got a good young QB. Who do YOU think will have an amazing season this year? blackredfellow
Big Ben, A Rodgers and Matt Ryan. 3 solid QB's on 3 solid teams.Thats what I think. I think Rodgers has established himself as, if not the best, one of the top three in the league. Needs no explanation really.Ben is way underrated to me. You never hear him mentioned when people are talking best QBs. I dont even like to say it, because I LOATHE the Stillers, but Ben is good... **** good. I think Jerricho Cotchery is a good pickup for them. With him, and Wallace, Ben will be as sound as ever. And yes, Ryan is primed to have a "breakout" season. I say breakout because he is pretty established as a borderline elite QB at this point. I mean 28 tds, only 9 INTs, thats a stellar season. He will breakout though, becoming an elite QB, fantasy stud, and I believe, a playoff winner. Jones looks to be everything the FO thought he would be, and Harry Douglas will be a scary slot receiver. He may benefit the most from teams focusing on the dreaded duo.
Jp7833
Matt Ryan will have a breakout passing season. I think with the addition of Julio we will step back from the running game a bit and give Matty Ice a chance to toss em up there. I think we move to an aerial attack this season, and I also think that Matt Ryan shows everyone why he has so many supporters/believers league wide. He is ranked 3rd under ESPN's new QB rating system under Manning and Brady and before Rodgers.

All numbers and highlight, no heart and no superstar impact. No heart? The guy played in the AFC Championship game a week after having knee surgery.I think it will ultimately come down to Rivers and Rodgers. Matt Ryan is on an upward ascent but he still isn't in their league at this point. I have to see more before I can say he will challenge Rivers and Rodgers in yards, QB Rating, YPA, and TDs. FalcoChicquera
cassell had am amazing season last year only like 5-6 int. where you get leading in int from??Charlie Weis is an offensive genius. Todd Haley is not. Weis is gone (to Florida). The previous season in KC he threw 16 interceptions, and ui touchnlike most of the other (non-good) QBs in the league, there's no alternative / backup who is a viable starter. In addition, the last KC game I watched was against the Ravens in the playoffs - he threw three picks. He doesn't play the Houston, Seattle or Arizona pass defences this year...That's my reasoning

Kurt Warner had a pretty good year under him. Plus, the Ravens make a lot of QBs look badly.Furthermore, Philip Rivers is a great QB, who does have heart. So what if he has no rings? I mean, Trent Dilfer has a ring...Rivers wears his emotions on his sleeve, which has its pros and cons. I don't like his attitude, but I can't question his intensity. I, too, am not sure if Ryan is better than Rodgers and Rivers yet. The scary thing is Rodgers isn't much older than Ryan. But I still think Ryan has the potential to overtake them. Hopefully, we see convincing glimpses of that this year. And I think we will. I'm excited! He isn't even in their league right now. Both guys have put up much better stats and have made playoff runs. I also disagree that Ryan has the potential to overtake them. I think Matt Ryan will be a very good QB throughout is career and will be in the Top 5 one day. I just think Rivers and Rodgers will be the next 1a and 1b QBs in the future like Brady and Manning have been for so long. The thing about Ryan is that I don't see a single thing that he is truly special at. He is a well rounded QB who is very good at a lot of things he isn't truly special at anything like Rivers and Rodgers. Ryan just doesn't have the talent that those two guys have. That was one of the knocks on Ryan coming out of college. He was very pro-ready and very well coached. Most scouts just thought he had limited upside. A guy who can play right away and be a consistent QB but not one that will ever become the best QB in the NFL. I don't see the upside that some Falcons fans see. Tell me a couple of things that Ryan is truly special at. I see a very good QB but when I watch Rivers, Rodgers, and Ryan play I see that Rodgers and Rivers are simply more gifted passers. They have impeccable deep ball accuracy and are very aggressive when they challenge defenses. Both guys have proven they can carry an offense. I just haven't seen it and until I do, I can't even begin to put Ryan with Rivers and Rodgers.

They sat behind very talented QBs and learned from them. Ryan came into to the NFL considerably behind them, and didn't have a mentor to coach him up. Making no excuses for Ryan, he still hasn't been given enough time to blossom. So what is so special about him? He is a quick learner. He isn't as emotional as Rivers (again pros and cons to that) and is calm and collected under pressure. Ryan has made incredible plays to come from behind late in games. He has a good frame for a NFL QB and he has a presence about him on the field. I agree with you that as of now Ryan hasn't shown as impeccable deep ball accuracy and aggressiveness as them but that is something you will see this year. You will see him make "explosive" plays and you will see him challenge those guys statistically. I think he is a very smart QB, and he has potential to challenge them. You said that in the future Rivers and Rodgers will be 1a and 1b a la Brady and Manning. No reason to assume that the future QB battle won't be three handed with Ryan, Rivers, and Rodgers as 1a, 1b, and 1c. No reason to assume that the future QB battle won't be three handed with Ryan, Rivers, and Rodgers as 1a, 1b, and 1c.I've gone on and on about this argument on this forum. In most cases QBs tend to have one of their better careers within their first 3 years. History doesn't back up the notion that QBs keep improving statistically throughout their careers. The NFL is tough. Most QBs have a hard time playing at a high level for even 10 years. Peyton Manning had his baseline season his 3rd year in the NFL. Dan Marino never improved up on his 2nd and 3rd seasons in the NFL. Some very knowledgeable QB gurus have said that sitting QBs behind veteran QBs is overrated. By their 3rd year as a starter there is virtually no different whether a QB sat or started right away. QBs that sat tend to perform better in their first year as a starter. Obviously there are exceptions to this theory based on offensive personnel changes or changes in offensive schemes. Guys like Marino, Manning, and Warner all had some of their best seasons of their career within their first 3 years as a starter. I've mentioned this several times on this forum and never really got a response. What evidence can you provide that would back up your belief that Ryan can go from where he currently is statistically to challenging guys like Rivers and Rodgers in the future. I see Ryan being a Top 5 guy in the NFL in the future but I just don't think he has the natural talent of Rivers and Rodgers. You paint the picture that Ryan's deep ball is even remotely close to those guys. It isn't. Ryan will be a very good QB for a long time but I don't think he has the potential to be the #1 guy in the NFL. The scouts never really saw that about Ryan either. He was a guy that could play right away but had a limited ceiling. There's nothing wrong with that. He's a good QB and I think he will be Top 5. I just don't think he will ever top Rivers and Rodgers. They are just better passers than him. Its that simple. If you watch all of them play you would see that. Those guys do things with the football that Ryan just can't.

I pretty much GUARANTEE you that Ryan will have his best season this year. I expect somewhere around 35 TDs, 4000 yards, and 65% completion rate. Those are numbers that will compete with any QB in the NFL. After this, your 3 year "theory" will have to be revised.
