Guest Gritz
I fully expect both Tony and Roddy to hold a joint press conference to demand a trade before the week is out.

kschreck
And there you have it folks. The answer to your question. This is the one thing I wanted to mention about Julios performance last night. Yeah, he had a few nice plays, but if those, very few, nice plays are going to come at the expense of pro bowl production, folks, we are in trouble!YKW has struck again. What do you mean we? Everybody knows you aren't a Falcons fan. Who do you think you're fooling?
kschreck
no you guys...the op is right...these guys are probowlers...i'm sure they are pissed at mike smith too for pulling them out when the game was still on the line...roddy and tg could have made a huge difference in that game Just think, if we would have left them in we might have gotten the W. mark0demi
First time I've ever piled up negs on a thread. Looks like I've found the motherlode of guys who don't understand an elite athlete's mind.Sure they're team players, but Tony and Roddy don't take the field to be ignored. Not in any game.It was at best 3 series we are talking about, ur acting as if this was a regular season game and Matt Ryan only passed to jones for the entire game, no that's not the case, I'm betting you were both confussed and upset when sub players played 90% of the game. "practice, we're talkin about practice, not a game, but practice". Haha calm down, the sky isn't falling.
JRid
Wow! I haven't seen anybody get this many negs in a long time. I didn't pile on because you don't need anymore and I don't really give negs anyway. You are usually a solid poster so I'm surprised to read this. I would be worried about Roddy and TG if they were actually upset and I can't imagine that it's possibly true that they were. I feel pretty sure that it wasn't just MM showcasing Julio. I imagine Blank, TD, and Smitty were all about showcasing Julio. It gets people excited about the team, it gives Julio experience, and it will help Roddy and TG get open more when the season begins. If coaches see Ryan going to Julio all pre-season they wont be concentrating only on shutting down Roddy and/or TG.

Robb4242
Joe has a unique perspective on things, so I'm not going to dismiss his post without considering it. I find it hard to believe, but that doesn't make it untrue. If it is true that those 2 guys were pizzed because they were not involved in the offense this game, then I say good. A couple of reasons for that: 1. Maybe it motivates them2. It shows that they still have the fire to get out there & they are not just here under the assumption that we went 13-3, won the division & this year should be no different without their desire to make it happen.Even if neither of those were MM's reasons for not including those 2 in the offense, it makes a lot of sense that we needed Ryan & JJ to get as many game situation reps together as possible, which I think is why we saw so much JJ involvement in PS1 & will continue to see it in the PS. We will start involving the other 2 (Roddy/TG) more as the PS goes along, but they are vets and don't need as many reps as JJ still.
Finally
There have been four linchpins to the Falcons offense over the last three seasons. Ryan, Turner, White, and for the last two, Gonzo. You'd think that all four had earned some respect from their offensive coordinator, but that's clearly not the case. Mike Mularkey decided to turn PS1 into the Julio Jones show. Gonzo was targeted once. Roddy not at all. I get the Jones love, but that's no way to treat a first-ballot Hall of Famer and last year's most prolific receiver in the NFC. Gonzalez and White are the two most prideful men in that locker room - last night their coordinator deliberately stepped on their cranks. I like Mularkey a whole lot more than most on this board, but he created a rift Friday night and he needs to pull his head out.The problem with your theory is that Ryan would also have to be mad because JPW got most of the love. Abe would also have to be mad because of Sidbury. In addition to JJ needing the focus for training purposes we need to sell JJ to the rest of the league as a legit threat because it opens up plays for White and Gonzo. Ryan & Abe may have gone in the certain expectations & Roddy/TG gone in with different ones as to their involvement in the offense. My guess is that probably the first 15 or so plays were scripted and if plays for Roddy & TG were pulled during the game and replaced with more plays for JJ, then they might be pizzed about that. Not in any game.Yeah, I'm certain that is why so many "elite players" and vets want to stay out of preseason games as best as they can. This will be a memorable thread for years to come. nsecchi
If Roddy or Gonzalez had of wanted to make a catch they could have played into the second quarter.

ol'_dirty2
If you think Tony and Roddy weren't pissed, you'd be wrong.Wow! How about they're both about as happy as can be since JJ will be taking pressure off them in a way MJ12 never could. Especially with HD starting to look like he's where we wanted him to be a season ago. C'mon sun!!!

AutoMax
Cool story, bro. Seriously, I don't think either of them have to prove anything in preseason. If you don't know what Roddy and Gonzo can do by now, I think you need a new team.
