Miller2Rison
We all know matty is the starter and redman is the back up, are they playing jpw as much as possible and pretty much saying produce or get cut?
Califalconfan84
We all know matty is the starter and redman is the back up, are they playing jpw as much as possible and pretty much saying produce or get cut?I agree, but if we decide to go with three QB'S, then i see hime staying(especially since he has played with Julio in Alabama), but Froman is gone. Supes™
Naw, I don't think so. We'll see plenty of Redman in the coming weeks and likely end up with the same QB's as last season.I like JPW. I think the kid has good potential.
AtlanticFit
I don't think so. I really think its to see if he can compete for the backup over Redman. If I'm not mistaken, I think Redman is about 34. Its a smart move to get jpw ready to be the primary backup.
The Falcon Jedi Knight
Remember JPW was not allowed to practice until a week later, due to the weird rule that forbid him from participating in camp. So he was late to the party.
Scorpion
honestly i have seen nothing good from his so far in his career. WOuld not be suprised if he gets cut.

Now days being a back up QB in the nfl is almost as important as being starter (thank our fomer qb mv)
Guest JoeSr
I'm tired of Chris Redman, but I know that is the best we can do at this point as far as backup QB. I want a Schaub or Cassel as backup.
madman88
We all know matty is the starter and redman is the back up, are they playing jpw as much as possible and pretty much saying produce or get cut?no, redman has a 3mil roster bonus he will make first game of the season... if JPW shows he is just as good now, they will cut redman in a sec to save that 3mil... plus that other QB froman showed some flashes to only be in camp 2 weeks is pretty surprising... And that is exactly why JPW got so much playing time and Redman did not. The FO wants JPW to step up and make Redman expendable so we can unload that $3 million, hopefully to potentially sign another CB/NB
juraitwaluzka
I think some people severely undervalue how important the backup QB position is to a good team. Redman has won games in the NFL, a few even in the waning moments. JPW has never played in a regular season game. This team is not going into the season with a backup QB who has never taken a snap I don't care what he does in the pre season. Honestly this is about as absurd a thought as all the Shockley is Da Future stuff from a few years back.
Dharma Initiative
I think they would want to dump Redman and free some money, but there isn't really an option for a #3 QB if JPW took over the backup spot
The Falcon Jedi Knight
Abe Froman the sausage king sucks. Our best option is keeping Redman with JPW at #3.
sanfranfalcon
IIRC Redman is in the last year of his contract. i think he'll be the backup again this year. but i think JPW is definitely auditionin' for next year's #2 now. i don't think TD would risk not havin' a proven #2 this year. 4LoveoftheGame
I did not like what I saw in JPW based on this week's game. Nor did Froman look very good. It could be possible that the best thing to do is keep Redman as backup and go get another young QB after the cuts that can develop. Always see teams do that every season. If by some chance the Steelers cut Dennis Dixon I would love to see the Falcons pick him up. g-dawg
when I watch JPW play, to me his ability makes the "field look smaller". I just never see JPW throw the ball down the field and this makes Falcons offense easier to defend.I know everyone keeps wanting to anoint JPW the back-up, but he has not impressed me yet. Hoosier
I think you have it backwards, if anything they were seeing if Wilson could handle B/U, then cut Redman's salary. Maybe they would give Meier a look at #3. Then put Froeman on PS. After the concussion to Wilson, I think that idea can be scuttled.

cnst
I think Redman is set at #2. The question is between Froman and JPW. I saw some flashes out of Froman and of course, some ugly stuff. (Keep in mind he's 2 week rookie with spinning head.) With that said, the #3 QB slot is for project QB's. While JPW is not terrible and probably betther than Froman, the problem is he's still "not terrible" after 2 years. I haven't seen JPW progress as a "project" QB. My thoughts are that if Froman can show progress in the next couple weeks, we may hitch our wagon to him and and see if we can make a diamond out of a lump of coal.
