Captain Falcon
What do you guys think about signing Matt Roth and letting him be a pass rushing rotational guy among our D-line? He would upgrade over Davis.

birdz4i
with abe, ray, kroy, sid, davis, and matthews i don t think we are going to need anymore help at de. someone is not gonna make it as is because i believe we will carry 5 w/ abe being in the last year of his contract. my guess is davis since it would free up a lil cap space since he is making like 3 million or so. Sheldon Cooper
We are solid at DE and will likely have to cut a pretty good DE in Davis or Matthews. We need to be more concerned with depth at CB. If McIlwain plays well, we are set at CB, if not, we need to find a vet to provide depth.
vel
we cant sign everyone, we have a good team, we dont need to replace everyone.A lot of people see a name they are familiar with and assume it would be a good idea to bring him in.
AtlantaFalconPokerPro
A lot of people see a name they are familiar with and assume it would be a good idea to bring him in.I'm going to make a thread, and list every available player. Then, maybe these dumbass dudes around here will stop making 3-4 "bring'em home TD" threads just because they recognize the name of a guy that's available. This isn't Madden. This is real life. Not some imaginary world where you sign a guy because it might sound like a good idea. One more thing... Each NFL team is allowed to have 53 players. If we signed every player suggested around here, we'd have a 1,000 man roster. Oh, and we'd be 500 million over our salary cap.
nolafan33
Saints have been talking to him along with Denver and Arizona.

There are going to be threads discussing about every single player out there. That is part of the fun of the offseason. Using your imagination to imagine every possibility for your upcoming team. If you don't understand that, you shouldn't be on football forums.Nobody is suggesting we sign every player out there. People are just weighing out the options of if we brought in each player individually and what that player specifically would bring to the table. I have a hard time imagining that any passionate Falcon fan doesn't do this. Also, in Madden, only your starting 2 defensive ends would really get any playing time. I am talking about Roth as a rotational guy to help give us an elite pass rush. Please, when you use insults insinuating that I base my football fandom off of a video game, make sure they make sense first. Who would we cut to make room for Roth? Also, how do we fit the 3 million he's wanting when we're barely below cap now. Also, I probably wouldn't have said anything if it were someone that actually fit a need. We need NB, and safety depth. poolerspirit
For what it's worth... I remember really liking Matt Roth when he came out in the draft that year..
JayOzOne
Roth missed most of a season with the Fins because he was "hurt". Not injured, because nobody could find out what was wrong with him. He didn't have a pull, tear, sprain, or strain; he just kept telling them that something hurt. Here's the news: Most players get "hurt" every year. You miss games due to injury but should have enough drive to play when you're hurt. I will pass on a heartless warrior.

We need NB, and safety depth.Chauncey davis? I love the Cliff Matthews pick, but if he ever plays on the level of Matt Roth, we would have gotten an absolute steal. In other words, why wouldn't we replace a project player for a guy who is pretty much guaranteed to contribute? One thing I can definitely agree with you on, is that we absolutely need another corner. Really, i'd like for us to sign two new corners and have Owens and Franks fight it out for the last roster spot. I don't think it was good for us to cut Brian Williams. The guy was hurt last year, but the year before that he was playing at a pretty high level. I think it would have at least been nice to keep him as our 4th corner while also finding a nickel corner in free agency and letting Franks and Owens fight for the 5th spot. Let the best man win. Competition pushes people. As far as safety goes, I think our coaching staff has a lot more faith in Schillinger and Bush than our fans do. If worst comes to worst, there is an abundance of good backup safeties in the league we could always trade for, although I would hate to have to give up any role players or the few draft picks we have left. Honestly, that is another reason we should not have cut Brian Williams. The guy could have played safety too, if we needed it.
