Soren
What do you guys think of Kelvin Hayden former Colts cornerback, to come in and secure the nickel position for us. Dont get me wrong I like Franks, but I feel like Hayden would be a severe upgrade, and Franks could still emerge as a dime corner. Hayden has both experience and youth on his side as a good pick-up as he is 28 but with 6 years of service. I dont know about his injury situation as of now, but he hasnt played all 16 games in his 2 last seasons.
vel
It's not up to us. The coaches know who is available and obviously haven't brought anybody in because they like what they have. Can we drop this issue until the first preseason game is played?

vel
And that's why we were 22nd against the pass last yearAnd were 13-3. The coaches made tough decisions the last 3 years and have gotten a 33-15 because of it. Not based on what a message board thinks. You may be uncomfortable with our nickel situation right now but TD and Smitty want to see if Franks or Owens can take the open position. That's why we didn't even draft a corner, let alone bring in one. Let them do their jobs.

Those guys don't play every Sunday to be the best regular season team. They play to win championships. The secondary has been a weakness for years, hence no rings
vel
Every year we bring one in Sept. 1st ........ I don't see that happening. I honestly see Franks winning the nickel spot as he looks as if he fully understands the defense and is the more talented of the two. But Owens as a dime is not bad at all. Get over the Packers game. The kid has talent. I don't see any #4 WRs as good as Driver, TO, or Ocho (the only 3 who ate Owens' lunch last year).

The secondary has been a weakness for years, hence no ringsAnd we also had no pass rush like dirtydirty said. We just added Edwards and get Jerry back. And the whole defense got torched, not just the secondary. The secondary had the most pressure because we blitzed in an attempt to sack Rodgers. The DLine missed sacks, the LBs struggled in coverage as did the secondary. We might as well replace everybody back there then based on your assumptions. aerosmith67
And that's why we were 22nd against the pass last yearIt wasn't just a lack of production out of Owens and Franks that created that issue.
vel
Franks is still a total unknown ...why is everyone ready to annoint him until we actually see him play ? ........ :unsure:I didn't say he was going to be a lockdown nickel, I just said I see him beating Owens. It shouldn't be that hard as Franks is easily the more talented of the two and has looked good so far in TC. If that's the case, Owens and Franks are both unknowns right now as we don't know what the coaching staff sees in each player so why are you ready to give up on them by bringing in a vet? apl2g
It wasn't just a lack of production out of Owens and Franks that created that issue. They were part of it. And with a healthy Dunta and Grimes with another year I think they will be fine. Nickel cb is very important and if it can be upgraded for the right price I think it will be done

Knight of God
I hate to say it, but I think we may just go with what we have. I honestly think that it should be a battle between Franks and Bush though. I'm hoping that Walls and that kid from Oregon show us something as well. I like hybrid CB/FS a lot which is possibly why I wasn't a fan of Grimes in the beginning. Those hybrid guys are beastly at NB.

The coaches know what is going on. Trust that they know what they are doing. It's nerve racking that's why you most guys want a vet corner. A vet would cure their worries of Franks/Owens not being good enough. But you don't know if they are good enough yet as we have yet to see them in game action. Coaches see them daily and the fact that a move hasn't happened with all of the players out there show me they like what they are seeing so far in TC. Yes Owens struggled a bit last year but give him the opportunity to show he has grown from it. Grimes was abused plenty of times but Smitty stuck with him because he had faith in his staff to bring the best out of Grimes and they did. Falcons_Braves
13-3 may mean nothing to some people but I know I'm going to enjoy looking up and seeing that NFCS banner. As others have stated, td will most likely wait a few pre season games before deciding who else to bring in
