So what of the other 14 teams? Here’s where they stood by way of cap space, as of Tuesday: Redskins ($18.7 million); Colts ($15.7 million); Packers ($15.4 million); Titans ($13.6 million); Saints ($10.5 million); Patriots ($9.2 million); Jets ($7.6 million); Dolphins ($6.6 million); Ravens ($6.6 million); Chargers ($5.0 million); Eagles ($3.8 million); Falcons ($2.6 million); Rams ($490,000); Giants ($290,000).

Loomis putting in work, and can still add some pieces. I guess this puts to rest the debate that the Saints didn't have enough money to resign Goody. We simply were ready to move on to Matt Tennant.

So what?

Maybe you feel like your team needs more players. But our team, the nfc south champions, are pretty complete as of this moment.

What you mean so what? The Falcons won't have the cap to sign anymore free agents after other rosters cut some guys.

As for being pretty complete...

I know the Falcons still have questions in the secondary. Did you know that already?

yep... and not that it means anythign but we did bring in about 10 UDFA CBs..

hearing very good things about 2 of them, 1 whos a S at this level and the other is a good CB.

Darrin Walls ans Tsuesamni Suisatea (sp)

Not to mention Franks and Owens have both been impressive.

Unlike other teams we dont let all our young talent walk because they didn't produce to great levels the first year.. and go and sign old guys who don't fit our system, try to incorporate a new sub package while teaching the base to the new guys in 1 month and hope it works out.

Yep, pretty Much Julio is burning everyone we put up against them, but Franks has faired well against typical slot recievers, like Beaumont, Douglas, and Meier.

He's also been able to keep up with Roddy every now and then, but Rodyd usually uses his instincts and physicality to beat him everytime.

Yor're even more ******** then I think you are if you think we're going to put a Nickelback on a #1 WR.

It was widely reported in Rivals the entire offseason the Saints were in terrible shape with no cap space and 29 Free Agents. Their fall was going to be epic...

Funny how well things have turned out.

Maybe next year all of the internet-based "Capologists" will write about something different???

Talk about trouble in their secondary? Yours is a joke and maybe you could trade for Samuel's? If you have the money left!

You don't have the 4th ranked pass defense and rank #1 in pass touchdowns by having a joke of a secondary.

Maybe the real joke is your secondary? 22nd overall!!!

This is just yet another example of how big of a idiot you are...

We know they can't tackle or intercept passes (9 all season), and just for example, Greer gave up 5 TD's in his last three games! What am I missing?

Roddy, JJ, Gonzo, Douglas, Jacquizz, Meier, etc., eat them alive this season! ;)

Greer gave up five TD's in the last six games, and gave up six TD's in 15 games. Thing is, he only gave up 1 TD in his first nine games. Your play suffers when you suffer a severe injury. Up until that injury he was having another elite season, just like in 2009 when he ranked 4th in completion percentage among all CB's at only 47.7%!

BTW, the Saints defense gave up less missed tackles than the Falcons defense. The elite Brent Grimes was second among the entire NFCS with 14 missed tackles!

Either way, what does it matter? A secondary is made up of much more than one player. That's why there was such a large seperation in our secondaries last season.

4th>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>22nd!

JoreMari,

So we shouldn't discuss the Cap in August? Rookies are now signed and Free Agency is nearly played out. Preseason is ready to start. What month would you prefer?

Or maybe it just irks you beyond belief that the Saints have >$10M to play with while your team has <$3M left?

once aqain Nola shows his complete and utter hypocrisy.....in 2009 yards did not matter it was all about QB rating against. Those were "the real measure" of a secondaries success against passers.

Yet now it is strangely back to yards?

Also you fail to look at numbers of attempts vs.........which again is something you would point out ( and have) when it comes to atlanta's rush defense.

YPC given up were nearly identical.

The saints actually gave up more big plays in the passing game in FAR fewer passing attempts.

no one really knows exactly who has what.

As it has been pointed out over and over here, cap "space" is a very relative term.

If there is a player we would want that is available we will go out and get them. Pure and simple.

i tend to worry more about cap before FA, not the end of it. at this point of the season, when rookies are signed and FA is nearly played out, your team is pretty much set.

there is a lot of movement left to go. plenty of FAs still available...there will be another busy time as soon as the NFLPA is done with their thing and then you have all the cuts coming that will result in depth signings

still, looking at the overall space of the cap doesn't mean very much. if the Saints were able to take their meager cap room and manipulate contracts to free up more room for the signings they have made, I am sure Atlanta would be able to as well should the need arises
