Miller2Rison
is the Eagles and Falcons the NCF version of the inner confrence rivals Patriot vs Colts????
PeytonMannings Forehead
No. That rivalry has produced instant-classic style games over and over, and while the Falcon/Eagles have met in the playoffs, the stakes between the Colts/Pats have consistently been higher. The Pats were the colossus of the NFL, they were the dynasty, the 3-Time Super Bowl Champion standing in the way of a franchise that had been the model of regular season consistency, but lacked big game success. Every time they met, especially from 05-07 it magnified a potential changing of the guard. Could Peyton put to rest the demons of not being a big game quarterback? Could Brady and the Pats assert themselves and assert the case that they were the best team ever assembled?Falcons/Eagles haven't had that kind of juice. The Eagles have never been the best team in the NFL and the Falcons are just not putting together consecutive winning campaigns.
VT89
Pats/Colts is annually the most anticipated regular season game, and usually one of the best.Has there ever been a regular season game in the NFC that garnered as much hype as the Super Bowl the year before it? Pats/Colts did in 2007. Edited August 2, 2011 by VT89

Sun Tzu 7
NoAndy Reid is 8-1 vs the Falcons. Not been much of a rivalry.Unfortunately he's right. When was the last time we had a close game with them?If we're going to win our first home game the coaches had better do a much better job than they have in the past or else we're going to get embarrassed in front of the nation. Miller2Rison
i dont just mean the mike smith era, i also am dating back to the 2002 playoffs, a close game we lost against the eagles then we get another shot in the 04 playoffs this time for all the nfc marbles, in 05 it was a huge monday night showdown nfccg rematch at the ga dome that we won then we had the eagles again in 08 (i feel we were cheated in that game) than mike vick returns to the dome in 09 in an eagles uniform, in 2010 and 2011 both falcons vs eagles games are nationally televised. I know were not exactly the pats vs colts yet but since 2002 what out of division confrence games in the nfc have been consistantly as big as falcons vs eagles? patriots had colts number from 2001-2005 eagles have had the falcons number in 2 playoff appearances and since the mike smith era. In my personal opinion week 2 is a must win playoff game for the falcons, people on this board talk about the eagles like they are the saints. GENERALZOD
Because of the eagles qb there is no escaping the drama that's going to happen every time the Falcons face them regardless of what anyone has to say, that's just the way it's always going to be as long as they have their current qb leading their offense.Does it matter? Only to those who want to live in the past. Cant we beat them? Yes, and it will be proven in game 2 this regular season regardless of who's on the field for them. Falcons will PLUCK the eagles up and win that game probably 38 to 13, that's my prediction.

The first falcons loss i ever witnessed live was to the eagles at fulton co stadium sometime in the 80s, i don't remember the exact year but i remember the score 6-0. It's deeper than Michael Vick to me.
Lt.Fro
We have one thing we didnt have last year and that Jones. We have so many weapons this year they won't be able to account for them all. The Falcon Jedi Knight
Whether u want to admit it or not - the Eagles own us. Andy Reid is a mastermind and we just have not figured out a way to beat that team.

Your going by what the eagles look like on paper, until they show they can gel as a team all they are as of now are paper champions, don't mean nothing. MattM12
you know who is the key to that game? The LBs..Spoon, Lofton and Nick are going to have to shut Vick down. And you know what, I think they will.
bdog 29
I've been a big fans since probably 03 and in that time, I've seen the Falcons dominate and get dominated by some teams. As far as the division goes, the Bucs dominated us during Vick's time here but we've owned them the past few years so it's all good. The Saints have gotten us a few times as of late but we dominated them earlier in the decade. The Panthers had a run where they were pretty good in like 05-07 but we've embarrassed them lately so it's all good.No one team owns the Falcons like the Eagles have in this past decade and (looking at the all-time records) years before then. I don't hesitate to say that though the Eagles aren't in our division, they are the team I personally hate the most. If the Falcons lose a game, I always check the scores and if the Eagles lost I feel that much better. I can't stand the team or the city and if we go 1-15 this year, I'd hope that the one win would be against them. Likewise, if we went 15-1, I'd be pissed that the one loss was to them. I can't even express just how much I hate the Eagles and the Week 2 game will probably be one of the biggest games of the season IMO if not for the mental aspect of finally beating them.
