g-dawg
Colin was talking about free agency moves, the Eagles, Jets, blah, blah, blah and was talking about contenders in the East.Colin thought the signing of Ray Edwards was solid and would help gel the Falcons defense - something to that affect.Regarding Julio Jones, Colin said from the people he knew and trusted that were watching Falcons practices at Flowery Branch that Julio Jones looks like a star - a beast - Colin said that he was told that Julio looks like he could have 75 catches this year and 10TDs - he said that he's been told that Julio Jones could be like a "young Jerry Rice" or a "young Terrell Owens" - this is VERY high praise - Colin really expects big things from Atlanta offense.I was stunned hearing this high praise - it got me fired up! innovativefx
I think expectations are going high very fast for Julio.I do think he has star potential, but rookies have a hard time living up to that sort of hype.

Julio is bigger than Rice was isn't he?
illest_will
too bad neither had that good of a rookie campaign but I think his situation is one of the best for a rookie. he'll be facing easy coverage, he had an Alabama QB to help him decipher the playbook, and he seems to have an all-star work ethic, which matches our film room rat QB. I just can't wait to see his first preseason.
Falcons Win
The Herd generally loves the Falcons and has some ins with some of the higher people up here at the Branch, good to hear that we believe we've really made the right choice. Everything about me is trying really hard not to get excited about this team, but I honestly think Julio may end up being the guy to approach some of Moss' records. Just going to depend on the playcalling and health of Matt Ryan and Julio, but this is something it's hard not to get excited about.Imagine our offense last year with Julio in place of Jenks, and put in even just 40 catches and 5 TDs you're talking about a team with 2 legit threats at that point. It's amazing that for all this time of Ryan's development we've only had 1 WR capable of 100 yard games, now we have 2, and really 3 with Douglas back at 100%, but 2 legit 100 yard guys who you can't ignore. SO $$$$I know I'm taking him in my fantasy league dang it!
ConnFalcon
Cowherd loves the birds, which is why I love Cowherd.I guess I am a blind homer    I just can stand watching the NFL Network spew their Falcon hatorade all over my TV. g-dawg
He's not lying either...JJ is looking good...saw it for myself thanks, love hearing from guys who went to "the Branch" and tell me what they see with their eyes - thanks hate!Question for you though. Peter King's report said JJ was sitting out a practice or two because he stepped on somebody's foot and had a bone bruise. Was JJ on field when you went to practice? and when did you go? yesterday.do tell....

g-dawg
yeah, i really see Julio Jones as a young "non-diva" Terrell Owens. Some may not like the comparison because of all the drama with TO and he has been in decline for 3yrs - but let me tell you for those who have forgotten - Terrell Owens was an absolute beast in the NFL for 10+ years. Both Julio and TO are about the same heightBoth Julio and TO have the chiseled physiquesBoth Julio and TO play with no fearBoth Julio and TO practice like they playvery simliar playing styles - just Julio has none of the crappy diva attitudes. Peter King's report said JJ was sitting out a practice or two because he stepped on somebody's foot and had a bone bruise. Was JJ on field when you went to practice? and when did you go? yesterday.do tell....YEAH!! The whole time I was there, he was basically full speed...He had a sweet...long, over-the-shoulder catch that he had to make an adjustment to. He was expecting it over the inside shoulder, down the seam, on the right side. But the ball drifted more towards the "flag." He drifted with the ball, maintained speed and balance and still made the catch, over his inside shoulder (while looking back), right at the sticks, ending in a sommersault in the endzone...it was super catch....! Ray is huge, Jerry and Peters are "trim" ABE is ABE...so perhaps one FA CB and WR and we are set....Speed....Speed and more Speed on offense!! Dale4Saul2Red0
If Julio turns hauls in 10 TD's we'll be the ones laughing in everyone's face saying we overpaid. He could be the X factor in years 1, but I wouldn't put the pressure on him of catching double digit TD's.
