The Falcons and offensive guard Justin Blalock have agreed to terms on a contract.

In his first four seasons, he started in all 64 contests he has participated in. For the first time in four years, he was one of three Falcons rookies to start in the season opener and one of two Atlanta rookies to start on the offensive line, which ranked second to the Baltimore Ravens in 2007.

In 2010, Blalock started all 16 games at left guard and opened holes for a Falcons rushing attack that averaged 118.2 yards per game. He was a member of an offensive line that produced 165 total rushing yards at Cleveland (10/10), including 140 by RB Michael Turner. He was also part of an offensive line that assisted in recording 452 total yards against Cincinnati (10/24).

Blalock will be eligible to practice Aug. 4.

That's a pretty big contract but it's good to lock up an experienced starter entering his prime. With Blalock and Clabo coming back and guys with a lot of potential waiting to fill in for Dahl I think the line will be a strength going into next year.
