New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram post-practice media availability

How does it feel to have your deal done?

I am excited. It’s what I have been waiting for my whole life. I am going to have the opportunity to play pro football. I am excited to be here and to be a part of such a great organization like the Saints. I am really excited.

What are the challenges in entering your first practice in the month of August?

I am just getting in and learning everything. Learning the system, the tempo, practice and what we do at practice, learning where to be and where to go, just learning a new system and being part of a new team. I am excited about all of it. I am excited to be out here, learning the plays, and to be a Saint.

At the end of the day, is this still just football?

It’s the pros. It’s the best players in the world playing football right now. I just have to go out there and learn the plays. You still play with a brown ball. You still play on a field that is 100 yards long. You still have two end-zones. You still have to run the ball and throw it. You still have to play and there is still football.

Did you feel familiar when Drew (Brees) and the coaches were discussing plays?

I know some of the basic things just from being out there with Drew. Some of the other guys are also helping me with the terminology. I definitely still have a lot to learn. I have a ways to go. I am going to work hard in the film room. I am going to spend extra time studying the plays and knowing what I have to do out there so I can just go out and play and I don’t have to think so much.

What are your feelings on Reggie (Bush) being traded and the team bringing in Darren Sproles?

I am just excited to be a part of the team. My main focus coming in to camp is to go out here, work my butt off, and do whatever I can to help the team be the best team we can be and win games. That has been my main focus. Anything else, I can’t control it. I am excited to be and excited to get going.

Are you surprised that Reggie is no longer with the Saints?

Like I said, I had no control over what happened. My main focus was to be in the best shape possible coming in to camp, work my butt off, and help the team win.

Was jersey #28 an easy choice?

The options were 28, 34, and 32. I was trying to get 22 from Tracy (Porter) for a while but I gave up. 28 is a special number to me. I was picked 28, my dad was picked 28. He wore 82 when he played in the pros. It has a deeper meaning than that, so I am happy with the number and it has a meaning to me. That’s good.

How anxious are you to go through a full practice?

I just came out here and watched today. I went through everything and it’s good. Now, I’m here full go and I’m ready to practice.

There was a similar article about JJ, that you RCers completely dismissed.

It mentioned what Jones had done to help the Alabama Tornado victims and how he stayed in the Green Room with Ingram until he was drafted.

That was met with the typical response's. PP said Jones was down there looting and Joe Horn(or someone) said he was begging Ingram to get him traded to the Saints.

Typical RC double standard crap.

Where in that thread did I say anything about JJ begging Ingram to be traded to the Saints? Where in that thread did I post anything?

Start making sense.

I wrote "Joe Horn(or someone)" I suppose I should have wrote "Some Saints fan" which it was.

I will find and post the thread when I get back home, it's been a long day at GABP.

Seems like Julio and Ingram are both eager to make an early impact. Both have endeared themselves to the community. It'll be interesting to see how they do as rookies.

(I plan on having bragging rights in Feb 2012)

I thought my comment above in that thread was fair and impartial, but you musta missed it??

maybe i should start making a new thread for every guy we sign, and every interview we do, then we can have 30 pages of spam from me lmao

sorry but each team is only allowed one spammer in this forum and WFW has that position on lockdown

I had no problem with that comment, I happen to agree with it.

I was referring to a couple of threads from earlier in the year, where surprise, surprise a Falcon was slighted for doing the right thing.

I never should have brought it up, lesson learned for ole DD.

Can you imagine the tears and gnashing of teeth if the Saints running game outpaces the Falcons this year? I mean, we all already know the Saints offense is going to be better as a whole (natch) but if our running game is specifically more productive then OH MAN there will be a mad scramble to promote the most obscure selection of stats you've never even seen printed before.

Ingram looked fantastic today.

He had one run in 11 on 11 where he took the handoff and hit the #4 hole hard and then made a cut around a block to his right and ran up the right sideline before stiff arming a corner to the ground and being pushed out.

I know I hate it when Falcon Fans have to go to obscure stats to try and show that thier offense is better.

Like that stupid stat of points scored.

2010 season

5 Atlanta Falcons 414

11 New Orleans Saints 384

We need to learn that it isn't the offenses job to score points what a meaningless stat....

A stat that can be very misleading. Kind of like how our offense clearly wasn't it's self pretty much all last season. Including all the fluke int's by Brees. Your offense didn't play bad and had a lot go your way. Yet you only out scored us by 30 points. Any stat can be misleading, but there must be a reason the NFL goes by yards.

Actually, even with Drew playing on one knee and Ladell Betts being the running back who took the most snaps last season, the Saints scored 672 points, the exact amount of the Falcons, who were healthy. The kicker is though, the Falcons offense played one more half than the Saints offense to get those 672 points.

I'm glad you think you are funny, because no one else in here does.

Are you really calling me a spammer? How am I a spammer for posting legitimate news about my team in your team's "Rival Central" which invites your team's opponents to post things showing why they support a team other than the Dirty Birds? If you don't want to read stuff about the Saints, Buccaneers or Panthers, then just go back to your safe haven at TATF! NOW! :P

P.S. I thought you were ignoring me. How long did that work this time, huh?
