Minzear
The Atlanta Falcons are expected to go with rookie Matt Bosher as their punter. They won’t go for inexperience in their place-kicking game. Veteran kicker Matt Bryant has agreed to terms on a deal that will keep him with the team, a league source told ESPN.com Thursday night. Details of the deal were not immediately available. By keeping Bryant, the Falcons should have stability in their place-kicking game as they let punter Michael Koenen walk via free agency. Koenen used to handle kickoff duties and that role likely will fall to Bosher, a sixth-round draft choice. But Bryant handles field goals and extra points and is coming off perhaps the best season of his nine-year career that also has included stints with the Buccaneers, Dolphins, Colts and Giants. Last season, Bryant made 28 of 31 (90.3 percent) field-goal attempts and was perfect on 44 extra points. My link

The Falcon Jedi Knight
With the signing of our drafted kickers, looks like Koenen is the odd man out.

atljbo
very good... He was at the players OTA so the team had to tell him they was most definitely bringing him back

He was at the players OTA so the team had to tell him they was most definitely bringing him backWell, Brian Finneran and Brian Williams (I think) were at the players workouts and they had been told for certain that they wouldn't be back, I think. It was just a way to stay in shape and do it around friends.
Dem Birds
rather have koenan. As far as over Matt Bosher, yeah, me too. But we do need a reliable place kicker more than an experienced punter. ...since we don't plan to punt in 2011.

jlrfalcon
With the signing of our drafted kickers, looks like Koenen is the odd man out.I always thought Koenen was overrated anyway - you never saw his name high in any punting stats. Even if his punts may have held 1-second or more than other punters, his distance was 5-10 yards below others.Of course, maybe TD is taking the stance that this offense is going to be so good, we won't need a punter this year. GENERALZOD
Thanks, this is good news, I thought he done a good job last season for the Falcons. Very consistent.
RED_N_BLACK_98
Figured this was in the works. Cannot express how important special teams are. In fact, if you subtract Bryant from the Falcons last season, they easily could have been 10-6. He made several clutch kicks.

Quarterback
And, as the Falcons last saw with the Packers, who needs a punter?
