FantasyFOF
It appears that we've really got our eyes set on Charles Johnson. Everyone knows that you have to overpay for elite free agents, that's just the nature of the business. But how would you guys feel if we offered him a larger deal than Julius Peppers, after passing on Peppers only one season ago?
Borat
Not bad considering CJ is 25 instead of 30.

Johnson is young with a great upside, but only one great season. Wouldn't be too mad.
J-RoC770
Pissed off cause we could of won with peppers vs packers in the playoffs and win the superbowl.
muskokas finest ©
Peppers was 30 at the time, CJ is 24. I would rather pay a guy for what he is gonna do as opposed to paying for what he did.
FalconMama
It doesn't matter anymore because Charles Johnson just agreed to a contract with the Panthers! NEXT!

Tribal Chief
Peppers money for 1 good year. Child please Edited July 26, 2011 by ya_boi_j
I Even Bleed Red
In the last 4 years Peppers had 36 sacks. In the last 4 years CJ had 21.5 sacks, with 11.5 of them coming last year. Was that a one year wonder or is he now finally starting to get it? Is he getting more reps after Peppers is gone, or is Carolina using him more effectively? I don't know. I do know that if I was going to sign a big FA to a lucrative contract, I would like a more consistent body of work. Many people say that Peppers is 30 but those are the same people that are quick to say we should sign Aso because he still has 4-5 years left in him. Well, so does Peppers. And need I remind you that our best pass rusher is 33 years old? Call me pessimistic, but I'm not sure if it's a smart move to overpay for yet another "big" free-agent, a la last year. However, if we get him at a reasonable price, I would love to have him. Edited July 26, 2011 by I Even Bleed Red
