TdotFalcon
Where do you want the falcons to upgrade via free agency? I would like to see them get a DE. Johnson would be ideal imo.
CHOCTHEFALCONFAN™
DE is my vote.....I think we should give Franks a try at nickel.
Knight of God
I like Babin, Gholston, Kiwanuka, and Carter. I'll take Johnson if we can get him. I won't cry if Edwards comes real cheap.
TdotFalcon
I like Gholston too, he hasn't made a transition to the NFL stats wise so we may get him cheap. I think it is because he has been in a 3-4 while he is a true 4-3 DE. I think its worth the chance and I think he could flourish.I also agree that we should give Franks a try at nickle. #1 pick
Nnamdi is really the only one I rate for a high salary player. One DE is a contract year stud. We know how that goes. The other DE reminds me of Edge Hartwell and Peerless Price. Plus a DT is a bigger need than DE and an OLB is a bigger need than DE.Other than Nnamdi, I really could care less for the high demand DE's and CB's on the market currently. They aren't impact players and you can't justify paying someone that kind of money would we be basically the same team as last year on the defensive side.Golston should be cheap, I wouldn't mind him. TdotFalcon
The fact of the matter is that we NEED to upgrade either our pass rush to alleviate our pass coverage, or get some better coverage to allow time for our rush to get to the QB.Either way, if we are going to go deeper into the playoffs we need to address one or the other. In the regular season we can count on our offense to outscore our opponents. However, in the playoffs we need our defense to be studs. Gholston needs to be on a team where he can develop. He just didn't fit the personality in NY. Not with Mangini or Ryan. I like Ryan, but he is known for kinda inching from you if he doesn't get you per Ray Lewis some years ago.Gholston would learn here and has more physical qualities than Jamaal Anderson who is VERY average across the board, but based on what I've seen...he too is on the wrong team. They need to swap. Seriously.
peoriabird
I would settle for a decent strong side linebacker that can play in the nickle (if we can't get a productive DE) to get Lofton and Peterson off the field on passing downs period! Duff_Man
Bargain DE: Jacob Ford. Possible bargain CB: Richard Marshall.
maxatlanta
At least we have some DEs on the roster who, while not being world beaters, are serviceable. Meanwhile, IMO we have 2 capable cbs(plus the potential of Franks). We need an immediate starter at nickel and another cb in case of injuries. If we don't fill this hole there will be nothing to prevent what happened vs GB from repeating itself.
Peyton
Both, but we aren't going to be getting a big name at CB, just a serviceable nickel, like William Gay or somebody like that.
BadMoonRising
Both, but we aren't going to be getting a big name at CB, just a serviceable nickel, like William Gay or somebody like that.no faith in Owens?
paulitik
I voted CB, because I really believe we need both. I think if we didn't go DE, the upside of our prospect DEs are much better than our CBs. Franks is the only one after Grimes and Robinson that has potential. I've lost all faith in Owens. I've seen flashes in Sid and Biermann, I know what we have in Davis. Our DE situation concerns me. Our CB situation terrifies me. We need a vet who we count on in the nickel.
slamee101
DE. We'll pick up a CB but not a starter like everyone else seems to think we need. We have starters, just get a serviceable NB who can start if need be.
