ESPN NEWS...NFL AND PLAYERS reached a collective Bargaining Agreement !

Recommended Posts

to all the negative nancies - obviously both parties weren't going to leave billions of dollars on the table and miss games...

as most of us understood this would get worked out...

now on to more important issues...who will be at flowery branch next month?

LOLOL....that's a lot of money. What amazed me is how much the players didn't trust the owners on Thursday and by Saturday the law suits were dropped. So the proprosal by the owners must have been plenty fair. B)

This deal is looking pretty good. What the players lost in revenue share, they gained in better quality of life as far as practice goes. I like the rookie salary structure, the benefits for retirees, better Vet pay.

I gotta give it to Goodell and Smith, when it came to crunch time, they got it done. I still think the lockout was a ridiculously stupid move by the owners, but I'm happy with the results.

I still don't see how any of this couldn't have been agreed to without locking anyone out.

I can...think back the Thursday after the owners had signed. Remember the players reaction? I was a little surprised, especially by Gonzo's vid..."....it BETTER be a fair deal for the players...etc." They just flat out didn't trust the owners...LOLOL! But it is BUSINESS.

SO you think it was a good deal. And it **__COULDN'T HAVE BEEN AGREED TO__** without locking anyone out. . . and yet say the lockout was stupid?

Why could it NOT have been agreed to without a lockout? The revenue sharing (which I feel was the real hangup) is nowhere near what the owners were requesting prior to the lockout. They could have come with this offer without locking the player's out. They figured the NFLPA would cave much earlier and/or they'd have that 4 billion to sit on. Neither of which worked out.

That was a reply to PAultik. And since the problem was the NFLPA. . . yeah, I don't think it coudl have happened without the lockout, because otherwise, frankly, there would have been no pressure at all on the player's side.

That makes no sense whatsoever. The owners wanted a new CBA...asked for something that they've essentially since conceded in large part which kind of means they wasted our time over the last 4 months. The "pressure" you're speaking of was essentially non-existent. The owners created this and wanted a new deal.

Per Mort a few seconds ago on twitter:

Word from inside NFLPA: Executive Committee still on call with reps. No vote or recommendation yet as of 10 minutes ago. Reviewing deal.

Per Breer a few seconds ago on twitter:

I’m told NFLPA's player rep/exec comm conf call has been overwhelmingly positive, even w/questions left. Night and day from Thursday’s call.

Yep...just waiting for them to vote on the CBA. B)
