The Falcon Jedi Knight
Report: Eagles interested in Favre You knew it was coming. The lockout's not even over, the Eagles haven't even traded Kevin Kolb yet, but a report has surfaced that the team is interested in Brett Favre as their backup for next season. WIP's Howard Eskin, citing sources, went on CBS3 this evening and reported that it was "possible" the Eagles could sign the future Hall of Fame quarterback. A team source told The Inquirer that bringing Favre to Philly was a "long shot" and that a "lot of things would need to fall into place" for it happen. For one, Favre may not even want to play football anymore, although he's held the NFL hostage before with his will-he-or-won't-he-retire act. And if Favre even wants to un-retire, who says he wants to come back as a backup? The 41-year-old has made it clear before that he never wanted to play second string. But there are a few reasons to think Favre may be willing to accept an offer from the Eagles. He has a close bond with Eagles head Andy Reid and offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg, having worked with both in Green Bay. And the 41-year-old may also want one last shot at winning a Super Bowl. The Eagles will likely be in search of a starting-caliber quarterback as Michael Vick's backup if and when they trade Kolb. There are several candidates on the market, including Seattle's Matt Hasselbeck and St. Louis' Marc Bulger, but neither has the cache of Favre, even though he was banged up for the Vikings by the end of last season.Read more: http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/inq-eagles/Report-Eagles-interested-in-Favre.html#ixzz1SzSH6QXm Watch sports videos you won't find anywhere else

AtlantaFalconPokerPro
All this tells me is that the Eagles aren't confident if Vicks ability to stay healthy, which isn't a surprise.

FlyHighFalcons
All this tells me is that the Eagles aren't confident if Vicks ability to stay healthy, which isn't a surprise.Or they are a smart organization. All teams want a solid backup QB. You're stupid to not have a good backup option. It's the most important position in football that is prone to the second most awkward/blindside hits (WR being first).

Wrong again. When Kolb is traded for D. Cromartie (plus a pick), the Eagles welcome back Donovan McNabb. McNabb has already been working out with the team. They will then focus their sites on Carolina standout DE Charles Johnson. If the Dolphins or Vikings are not willing to give Vince Young a starting spot, he comes in as a backup to Vick. McNabb becomes emergency QB/mentor, giving the Eagles the strongest QB stable ever seen. All the while, at an incredibly reasonable price. However, Young may end up in Cincinati as well. Eagles are waiting to see if Haynesworth gets released, if so, the papers are already waiting to be signed, his former coach Jim Washburn has had the car warming up to meet Haynesworth at the airport ever since his first meeting this offseason with Eagles' brass. And then of course there are the Plaxico and Reggie Bush rumors. They are definitely going for it all... No holds barred. The Eagles have youth, money, coaching, great consistent stable minded ownership, a window of oppurtinity and a laser beam focus on winning the Super Bowl. They feel the Packers, Bears, Giants, and Saint's are all serious threats so the arms race is on folks. The Eagles see a lot of bargains out there. The only big money splurge would be on a young up and coming DE, which has Lurie bubbling over with excitment.

nuccah
LOL.If the Dolphins or Vikings are not willing to give Vince Young a starting spot, he comes in as a backup to Vick. Let me add in my own LOL.You expect Young and McNabb to come to Philly for anything less then start money?
Tandy
Okay, now it all makes sense! They're trying to field a QB squad of Vick, Favre, and Bulger.Wanna guess what all three have in common? The only thing all 3 of them have in common is the Falcons - they've all been on the team at some point in their career.Other than that - Vick and Bulger have quite a few things in common in their career.1. They have both been actually playing for 8 years (although Vick was drafted 2 years earlier - he was out of the league for 2 years)2. They both won their last playoff game 7 years ago in 2004.3. Both have a losing record in postseason - 33% wins4. Both have been injury prone and have only played 16 games one year out of the 8 they've played.5. Both were cut by the team that drafted them and then became backups on another team6. Neither have won a championship and therefore never made a trip to the Super Bowl (Favre has - and has won a SB)I'm sure there's more - but those are the glaring similarities between Bulger and Vick. That's five more rings than your combo has. They have more super bowl wins than Vick has playoff victories. They have as many super bowls as your combo has playoff wins in the last 7 years. Peyton
Great minds think alike :lol:I could come up with about 10 more combinations more impressive / accomplished too. Earl Morral was Johnny Unitas and Bob Griese's backup. His record during those seasons was 33-4-1, and he guided both teams to the Super Bowl.
