SaintsH8
So, they're not gonna vote. They're not gonna tell us what's going on. And they're taking the weekend off??Because they want to respect the death of the Patriots owner's wife.
Dem Birds
Because they want to respect the death of the Patriots owner's wife. They could respect it by getting back to something I'm sure she loved. Football.
Statick
One of the owners is quoted as saying that basically they (the owners) have laid their pens down.If they players balk at this, they're **** outta luck.
atljbo
Because they want to respect the death of the Patriots owner's wife.No doubt they want to show respect but thats not the main reason why they are not voting this weekend... Thats just an good excuse to buy them some time.It is what it is tho... They just need to get this done by monday

Reports are also saying that if there is not a deal by Wednesday then the 1st preseason game will be lost and the NFL will lose 200 million dollars. That will break down the deals that they had in place. Edited July 22, 2011 by #1falconsfan

falconidae
Doesn't it say later on in that report that they can still vote Sat or Sun if they decide they like the CBA?
Shnikies
One of the owners is quoted as saying that basically they (the owners) have laid their pens down.If they players balk at this, they're **** outta luck.I'm at the point now where I hope they do say enough is enough. I hope they say take it or leave it. Maybe when some of these greedy players start losing millions of dollars they will see they made a huge mistake. The owners will be fine most of them are billionaires They can handle taking a season off. When these thirty two player reps start getting calls from the little guys in the NFL not making a million dollars a year they will wish they made the deal. I say F*** em. sdogg
If they dont sign by Mon, owners need to tear up the deal and walk away. Force players to come begging. Eventually they will.
theDIRTYcode
Screw the whole season. I'm to the point where I want all of them to suffer significant financial loss. Bunch of greedy mfers...this is the south, we'll move some SEC games to Sunday and give the NFL a big azz FU.
Stepdaddy
Yep for the first time through this entire mess I am on a side. **** the NFLPA. I hope the owners tell them to pound sand if they dont like it. I understand them being upset about how the owners did things yesterday but your ******* egos are not a valid reason to not agree on a deal that you had already agreed on. And besides it is no less bush league of a move as De Smith pulling his little "ace" out of his sleeve in the final moments of negotiations the other night about the insurance policy he had secretly taken out for the players. The owners sucked that up and moved forward, now its time for the NFLPA to do the same. Edited July 22, 2011 by Stepdaddy

Guest Gritz
Yep....you can take virtually anything these insiders are saying right now and basically discard it.This is a really fluid situation and can go in many directions at this point.I'm starting to care less and less with each passing day. slamee101
Schefter last year via twitter "There will be an 18 game season next year, it's a done deal with owners"To be fair, I think he merely stated that Bill Polian was saying it was a done deal. I don't think he made the statement as definitively as you're quoting him.
