Theyhateme : )
"There's still some unresolved issues"..... I wish the players would just stop trying to force the owners hands. How unfair could it be for the players? It's pretty obvious to me that the owners are making concessions but I keep hearing more...more...more...in the long run...the players will go broke before the owners. -_-

sdogg
I still cant believe some defend the players. Its so obvious they dont want to have a fair deal, but more of a winning deal like the last CBA.
sdogg
Could players' legal counsel Jeffrey Kessler be holding up CBA talks?PUBLISHED Thursday, Jul 21, 2011 at 2:55 ATLANTA — There is no real "bad guy" in the NFL labor battle among the specific parties involved in the negotiations toward agreeing upon a new collective bargaining agreement. But from the owners’ side, a continued thorn in their side has been Jeffrey Kessler, outside legal counsel for the now decertified NFL Players Association. In addition to being reportedly involved in the push for Chargers wide receiver Vincent Jackson and Patriots guard Logan Mankins to gain either $10 million in compensation or free-agent status as part of their settlement in the players' antitrust lawsuit, multiple reports have Kessler being involved on the latest obstacle from that side: A potential delay in getting the union re-certified. Although players will need to sign union cards to make that happen, ProFootballTalk reports Kessler is ignoring the potential solution of doing that electronically. ESPN reports that several owners here at the special league meeting at the Atlanta Airport believe Kessler is playing a key role in holding up the process of a new CBA being reached. Even with a perceived villain, there is not much keeping the owners from trying to be the heroes and voting to approve on the new CBA this afternoon. That's supposed to be happen sometime within the next three hours, about five hours before the players representatives have been summoned for a similar process on Thursday night.Read more: http://aol.sportingn...s#ixzz1SlgxYBqr
Guest mashburn
agreed. I really thought it was going to end by this time.Brees really ticks me off. My wife called me, to let me know she hopes abraham goes in and snaps his legs in the first minute and that he can never play again. I said a little harsh, but very understandable for what brees has turned this into.and who said mole face had a say so and a big say so? doesn't he know he is paid to only say numbers and hike. Those are going to be ugly CBA meetings.I'm soooo over the Atlanta Spirit, Josh Smith and Joe Johnson till I could care less about basketball. I love the Hawks, but I'd scrap that team with the exception of Teague, Horford, Zaza, Collins and maybe Crawford and Pape Sy...

paulitik
Be patient. A deal will get done. This is a potential 10 year deal, and today is the 11th hour. We shouldn't be surprised if takes until the 59th minute to get it done. It sucks, but it's irresponsible to rush if everything isn't ironed out. You can blame the players but shame on the owners for creating this lockout environment putting all of this pressure on a situation that could have been resolved on the sidelines while we remained blissfully oblivious.Smith has the unenviable task of herding 1800 cats while trying to reign in that douchenozzle Kessler. The owners only have to make 24 Billionaires get on the same page. Smith's task is far more daunting. If Upshaw were alive this would be worse. Without the fans and the owners, how will the players get paid for their talents. I can make an argument for BOTH sides but it's getting past annoying... You can have one owner, a group of owners, or a city like Green Bay. Ownership can change hands. You can't have the NFL without the players. You might not like it, but that's the facts. A team is a city, and a logo, and the players that represent them. The owners while obviously important (some more than others), aren't the reason stadiums get filled up.As much as I like and respect Arthur Blank, he's not why I watch the NFL, nor the reason I pull for the Falcons. The players are irreplaceable. As with any other product, someone has to care for, cultivate, package and market the product. I don't care to debate this, just know that when I go to be entertained, there's always more going on behind the scenes than the actual entertainment. They'd be playing football in parks, with no fans, no TV coverage, no fat TV contracts and no money for their efforts.Of course players come and go, or we'd still be watching Bronco Nagurski. If anything, the players "come and go" more than the owners do. The players aren't the product. They product is football - which is the result of everything that the league, owners, front offices, coaching staffs and players do. It's certianly not just the players. atljbo
This is what piss me off ... I remember when De Smith was saying that they was doing all the crap they did for "the fans"... They are the ones holding the deal up trying to get theirs now. This is why i atleast respected the owners point of view... They came out and said we signed a bad deal during the last deal... We want a better deal... De Smith and the players tried to say they was doing all the court room fighting to start football for the fans... The court room stuff is whats holding up the deal now.Neither of them was doing nothing for the fans... They was looking out for there behalf ... I respect the owners for atleast saying it. It's certianly not just the players. That's why I said "players" plural as a group, a concept, not the actual physical people. I'm not talking about individual players. Football can be played without owners or front offices. Maybe not as good. We could Green Bay the entire league, socialize it, and you'd still watch it. That said, I'm not totally dismissing the owners role, but the product is the logo, city, and the men wearing the uniform. Those are the 3 key ingredients. If you want quality football, you have to pay a premium for it. You have to pay the players. But hey, you go ahead and enjoy the clerical and operation aspects of football. I enjoy watching the actual games. I hope you enjoyed your lockout. I'm sure you're sad to see it end.
