Petrino is NOT my hero
Being that we are not exactly stacked at LB, I see making a huge push to sign Herzlich as a Low Risk-Extremely High Reward move. Before cancer, he was one of the best LB's in the nation and the ACC POY. This guy battled through cancer and made it back to football after a year. He played well, not up to his earlier level obviously thouugh.Seeing as how he played coming off cancer, I think it shows the growth he may be able to take further down the line. If he can get to anywhere near the level of his ACC POY season, he could turn out to be a mainstay and centerpiece on our defense for many years.Personally I would love for the Falcons to make a really hard push for him. What are everyone elses thoughts

Shnikies
I would love for them to give him a shot. Plus he's the exact type of guy TD looks for.
Shuswap
Why not what's the worst that can happen ? Practice squad or being cut! There's alot of really good football players in the NFL that were UDFA.

Dr_truth189
I personally think there are 32 teams that are gonna "make a push" Lowest risk possible and highest rewards possible.

FlyHighFalcons
Mark Herzlich is a guy that most of the time I wouldn't want the Falcons to go after, but I ABSOLUTELY want him in Atlanta now. I want Herzlich to end up in a GREAT situation that will allow him to sit on the bench for a few years while he learns the NFL game and get backs to full strength on the football field. That opportunity is here in Atlanta. I want Herzlich to have a chance to shine on a good team, Atlanta gives him that. Normally the teams I like don't present the good opportunity for guys like this, but looks like Atlanta is perfect for everybody.
Julio Pwns
I'd love it but it's going to be hard to even get him out of the north. He'll probably end up a Patriot or maybe an Eagle.
Butudontseeme™
Would love it.
g-dawg
Mark Herzlich is a No-Brainer signing.Huge Upside rewardNo riskThe guy is a straight-up baller and a winner with a "never quit" attitude. He has battled back from cancer and - while the story is great - he was a dayum great player before the cancer and he was a good player(but not as good) after the cancer. My bet is Herzlich could possibly continue to progress/improve and maybe be a great player again. Its worth a shot - no doubt - even if Herzlich just becomes the 49th best player on our team - I would take that - he would be awesome in the locker room as well.Mark Herzlich = WINNER
Dr_truth189
I mean its the one thing he has going for him football wise right now. He will get to choose where he goes and sign a 2 yr deal and try to show he is back to strength to people. If I were him I would obviously choose somewhere where I would get to play right away. I think there are a lot of teams that are going to make a push for this guy. Many pluses about picking him up as a UDFA, there just were not enough guarantees to overcome the negative when looking at him in the draft. It's going to be very difficult for us to sign him, but if we could pull it off, it would be great.
The O.D.B
I'd hoped we would've drafted him but any way we can get him will make me happy.

Patriots did not draft the pass-rushing 3-4 OLB that everybody thought they would. Herzlich went to Boston College, so it makes sense that Patriots would have an advantage over other teams.I could totally see Herzlich going to New England. g-dawg
I wish Falcons would not have drafted the Punter/Placekicker - Bosher.I bet Falcons could have gotten him as an undrafted free agent and we could have secured Herzlich in 6th or 7th round. Dangit!!!
Gujuboyz85
he's a no-brainer to grab and sign for the team reminds me a lot of Tedy Brushci (sorry for the spelling)
MattM12
Has there been an UDFA who has more of a choice around the league to come to camp.. realistically, we have a 1/20, not all 32 will bite.I'm hoping we get on the phone to him early with a good offer! KRUNKuno
As much as I like Herzlich and lobbied for him years before his cancer appeared, Herzlich's speed concerns me. He's always in the right spot, but even before his cancer he was never that much of a speed guy. I look at him like I did with Brandon Spikes who I also wanted badly, but seems to be a better fit playing ILB in a 3-4.A linebacker I'm really high on is Mario Harvey. I think he could be a big udfa gem.
