ATLBrave
The only qualm I have with our first inning is that Snitker should have held Ross at third. The single by Gonzo got to the LF almost at the same time Ross was just hitting third base.Well, as the old saying goes, you aren't doing your job as a 3B coach if you don't get a few guys thrown out. Who was the OF that got the ball?

ATL Fan in the DMV
Eh, it is what it is. Ross was a dead duck as soon as he got the go ahead.Good signs from our offense though. And my God, enough great things can't be said about Freeman.

ATL Fan in the DMV
Fredi Gonzalez BETTER NOT even think to put anyone not named Proctor or Gearrin in the 8th and 9th to finish the Nats off tonight with that 8 run lead.Everyone else is either elite (Venters/Kimbrel/EOF) or has already racked up a lot of appearances (everyone else not named Gearrin/Proctor). Falconsfan567
I understand that. But he DOES have an emergency catcher in Conrad. And since Ross is a RH bench bat that can hit lefties, something we don't have, he needs to find a way to give the man more than 2 PH AB's all year.Or he could just use Brooks Conrad as a right-handed bat off the bench but he refuses too.Phillies up 3-0 in the 5th over the punchless Mets. The Braves only have 1 more loss against the NL East than the Phillies do. The difference is that tonight is already the Phillies 43rd NL East game. Tonight is just the 33rd NL East game. That's basically the difference of 3.5 games that the Phillies have over the Braves right now.

Falconsfan567
They just said Linebrink had only given up 1 run since june 18th. How is that garbage? Am I missing something?Let's see. He only has a WHIP of 1.29. He's given up 34 hits and 12 walks in (46 runners) in 35 2/3 innings. He has a BAA of .252. The fact that he has only given up 1 run since June 18th is that he's been quite lucky. He didn't give up a run tonight but did he pitch good tonight? If you considering giving up no runs but leaving the bases loaded as pitching good than me and you will never agree on this. The last time Linebrink pitched a full inning without giving up a hit or walk was June 25th. That's a long time ago. The last time he had an outing of any kind without giving up a hit was June 27th. That's a whole helluva lot better than terrible. You're going to find it rare to have a RP with a sub-1 WHIP, unless the guy is just a flat out dominant reliever, ie. Venters, Sergio Romo, etc.

Also it would be nice for him to have a 1,2,3 ERA every so often. Like I said he hasn't had a 1,2,3 inning since June 25th. That's almost a month ago. Have you seen his July numbers? Sure he has only given up 1 run in July but the numbers are far from good. 4 1/3 IP, 6 H, 5 BB (11 baserunners), 5 SO. That's after tonight's game. ATLBrave
here is the bottom line for me. The runners did not score. That is the most important stat to me.Well, he is technically right about there being more to a pitcher than ERA, but I think he got a little carried away with labeling Linebrink the way he did considering what we ask him to do and how much we are (or aren't) paying him.
