Dam it is tough to lose weight in a fat filled world

Recommended Posts

Its a hot summer and I figured it was time to loose this belly fat. No problem, right? I started playing tennis or walking the mornings and cutting out most of the sugar, butter and most meats thinking I would drop this fat quickly but hel no. It has been three weeks, I'm always hungry, tired and grouchy and doing my best to hang in there with an occasional slip. I added a fiber supplement but just minimal loss.

TV adds and all the fast food restaurants around my house are tempting me. Its a fatty food world we live in and you have to go out of your way and sometimes pay extra to get healthy food. No wonder most folks are a little over weight.

I think this could as tough as quitting cigarettes was.

- Drop the soda/sweetened tea.

- Drink a lot of water. Not just when you're thirsty. Just drink water and then drink some more.

- Eat normal portions. Doesn't matter if you eat healthy if you're eating 2 or 3 times what is a healthy amount of food.

- Don't stuff yourself. Eat bits throughout the day.

Don't know how old you are or anything else about you, but a little gut isn't always a sign of bad health.

I went through the same earlier this year because I had to get in shape for a 5K. Sometimes your body takes a few weeks to start dropping weight. You're introducing things it isn't used to in the form of new exercise and dropping certain foods. Your body can take weeks to adjust, but once it does that weight starts falling fast as long as you're staying consistant and not cheating with your old diet habits every now and then

This is a very good suggestion, they say to eat smaller meals throughout the day then 3 big meals, because it keeps your metabolism up and running faster.

1) Exercise daily preferably in early morning: you may start with Jogging or brisk walking for approximately 30 minutes – 1 hour before breakfast. Exercise done early morning keeps us active for complete day and is certainly one of most wonderful way to lose belly fat.

2) Alcohol must be avoided as it contains lots of calories (7 calories/ gram). Alcohol also impacts body sugar levels, and would greatly help your effort to reduce/ lose belly fat.

3) Avoiding junk food can be an effective way to lose body fat. Eating junk food is a primary reason that many people develop lot of fat and then look for tips to lose belly fat. One of the best ways to lose belly fat is to use the truth about six pack abs system. Junk food increases appetites thus making us eat more than required. It is unhealthy and fattening food that further result in more fat gain especially around your stomach.

4) Drinking lots and lots of water also help in losing water weight and lose belly weight.

5) High stress levels causes production of hormone called ‘cortisol’ in our body. This hormone has tendency to raise body weight, so get started with relaxation exercises immediately.

6) Eating balanced diet and avoid foods with high sugar/ caffeine level. Foods rich in nutrients/ fiber must be increased in our diets like fresh vegetables/ fruits/ oatmeal/ whole grain etc. Healthy foods maintain insulin levels and control blood sugar levels. Hunger is also controlled which means you can lose belly fat quite quickly.

7) Getting sufficient sleep is also mandatory. When we feel tired, our tendency to eating increases leading to overeating and thus developing belly fat. Getting adequate sleep would help avoid overeating and may help to lose belly fat. Good sleep would also ensure staying more active during daytime giving you chance to burn more fat and lose belly weight by being more energetic.

I lost most of my weight slooooowly. over a period of 8-10 years I lost over 100 pounds. but the fastest weight I lost, over the past one or so years I believe is directly related to my giving up sodas and sweetened drinks. Even diet sodas, Just don't drink em! the last 25 pounds I lost dropped off really fast when I quit sodas. Those things are the devil. I have been at a pretty stable weight for the past 6 months, 195-200. I was once right at 300 pounds and I was a fat miserable ####.

One thing not mentioned is to make sure you eat no less than 1200 calories a day. 1200 Calories is what it takes to run all your bodily systems through out the day. If you go below that you risk your body shutting some down and going into conservation mode and making it harder to lose weight

In addition to all of the other advice, I'd add to start counting calories. There are lots of calculators that will tell you about how many calories you can consume in a day to maintain current weight. Then, try to either eat 500 calories fewer each day (lose a pound a week on average) or exercise 500 calories, or some combination.

There are some very simple ways to cut down on calories. For instance, make a sandwich using 45 calorie a slice bread, no cheese, and no mayo. Mustard is fine along with most types of meat for a 300-350 calorie sandwich.

Others mentioned eating smaller meals more often during the day, and that's excellent advice. A 200 calorie snack at 3PM can help make it to lunch without being hungry and grouchy. Find something to substitute for chips or fries as a side. I like asparagus, but almost anything is better than the fried crap that comes in a bag. Or switch to baked chips and make sure you're not consuming more than 120 calories in chips per meal.

It's not actually hard, it just takes a conscious effort and diligence. All the advice and lifestyle changes in the world won't lead you to lose weight if your caloric intake is greater than the calories you burn each day. It sounds simplistic, but that is the fundamental truth of the matter. You have to burn more calories than you consume, and you can't know if you're doing that unless you know exactly how many calories you consume and burn each day.

You may be sabotaging your weight loss efforts if you are avoiding "fat". All fat is not created equal, and our bodies need fat to continue functioning properly. I've been following the advise of the person who wrote this snippet below. I dropped 80 pounds, and have kept it off for over a year now. I never felt like I was "dieting", and felt better than I can ever remember feeling after several weeks of following her advise. Your mileage may vary...just throwing this out there for you:

I'm going to be completely modest right now and tell you that when I was pregnant with my first baby, I was looking pretty good the whole time. (Come on, if I can't pat myself on the back, who will?)

I can remember specifically how much attention I got in the last few weeks, especially from complete strangers in the supermarket, book store...actually, just about everywhere.

Once I would tell people how far along I was (7-8 months), they always would say the same thing, "No way! Really? How did you stay so fit?" Besides mentioning the fact that I stayed consistent on my exercise regimen, I always told them the number 1 reason I was able to ward off the usual excessive pregnancy weight gain...by watching what I put into my mouth!

Is this really any different than what I would normally do even when not pregnant? Not really. Healthy principles are healthy principles. What's good and healthy for someone not pregnant (men included) is just as healthy for the preggers girl (with a few exceptions, of course).

I will tell you that I did put a special emphasis on one specific food and ingredient through the whole duration of my pregnancy and that is Omega 3 Fats, especially from fish oils. Before I got pregnant, I always included Omega 3's into my everyday meal plans for their fat burning and anti-inflammatory effects. But during pregnancy, I included them for the healthy development of my baby's brain and spinal cord. The benefits of Omega 3's are so far reaching, I don't think anybody should be without them.

Here are some to just name a few:

1. Relief and prevention of pain and inflammation. Omega 3 fish oil fatty acids, particularly EPA, have a very positive effect on your inflammatory response. Through several mechanisms, they regulate your body's inflammation cycle, which prevents and relieves painful conditions like arthritis, prostatitis, cystitis and anything else ending in "itis."

2. Better brain function and higher intelligence. Pregnant and nursing mothers can have a great impact on the intelligence and happiness of their babies by eating foods high in Omega 3's and supplementing with omega 3 fish oil (Everybody wants a smart baby, right?). For grownups, fish oil improves memory, recall, reasoning and focus. You'll swear you're getting younger and smarter (Wouldn't that be nice!)

3. Uplift mood and prevent depression. Making you smarter is not all that fish oil does for your brain. Psychiatry department researchers at the University of Sheffield UK, along with many other research studies, found that fish oil supplements "alleviated" the symptoms of depression, bipolar and psychosis (and they even help to alleviate PMS which sometimes brings on the same symptoms of depression and psychosis).

4. Superior cardiovascular health. Fish oil's DHA, EPA and DPA have also been proven to work wonders for your heart and the miles and miles of arteries and veins that make up your cardiovascular system. They help lower cholesterol, tryglicerides, LDLs and blood pressure, while at the same time increasing good HDL cholesterol. This adds years to your life expectancy.

5. Burn unwanted Body Fat. Omega-3 fats help you burn fat by helping your body respond better to a hormone called Leptin. Leptin tells your body (your brain) to suppress your appetite making you eat less so you can maintain or drop the weight. Leptin also increases your metabolism by increasing your thyroid output and causes your body to burn fat for energy. A better response to Leptin will decrease your hunger and increase your burning metabolism. Omega 3's also help control hunger by stabilizing your blood sugar levels. Less hungry equals portion control equals increased fat loss.

You can easily increase your intake of Omega 3's on a daily basis by eating several servings a week of wild salmon, tuna, herring, sardines, flaxseeds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnut, butternut, mackerel, and anchovies (I love anchovies!)

If you find yourself not able to get these foods in on a regular basis, you can easily get in your daily Omega 3 intake by taking a high quality supplement. Many of you know there are very few supplements I will recommend or even promote. Prograde's EFA ICON is one that I proudly stand behind and use myself.

You can read all about Prograde's incredible fish oil product Right Here

And if you're a first time Prograde buyer, get your first supply of this great fish oil at 30% off:

Do your brain, your joints, your mood, and your heart a huge favor and increase your Omega 3 intake right now. Your body will thank you (and I know my baby will thank me one day too!)

This is very helpful because when you wake in the morning you havent got a ready supply of carbs, so you body uses more fat for energy. Once you eat the carbs become the first source of energy.
