Mr. Hoopah!
espn.comDECATUR, Ga. -- Pittsburgh Steelers star wide receiver Hines Ward was arrested early Saturday in Georgia on a drunken driving charge, sheriff's officials said. The former Super Bowl MVP and reigning "Dancing With the Stars" winner was booked into the DeKalb County jail just outside Atlanta at 3:41 a.m. ET and charged with driving under the influence. He was released on $1,300 bond. The sheriff's office said it had turned over paperwork to the courts and couldn't release any further information about the player's arrest.A Steelers spokesman did not immediately respond to a message, and it was not immediately clear if Ward had an attorney.Since being drafted in the third round out of Georgia in 1998, the 35-year-old Ward has been a four-time Pro Bowl selection and won two Super Bowls.Dancing with professional partner Kym Johnson, Ward in May became the second professional football player to win the "Dancing" crown after Emmitt Smith won in 2006. He beat actresses Kirstie Alley and Chelsea Kane to become the Season 12 champion of the TV celebrity dance competition.Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press

RHEC
I dont see why he couldnt own his own cab company. If I were rich, I would have taken a limo. I'm confused with these celebs, they waste money on huge houses they don't really need and can't even get a limo or even a cab to take them home? mortatort
Not to justify it, but most people who drink (even occasionally) get behind the wheel when they shouldn't. This doesn't characterize him as being an idiot or "like the rest". Just a bad decision. Non-news.

Maybe most people drink and drive, but most people don't have as much money as Hines Ward. He's an idiot.

Atlfanstckndenver
yea i'd really have to go with idiot on this one as well. This guy i thought was a little bit smarter than this. I agree with the opinion that these athletes with the amount in their accounts have way less justifications for this crap. Not saying there are justifications just that it goes down as a little less intelligent in my book than your average party drivin drunks. lol

AtlantaFalconPokerPro
I always had more respect for Hines. Didn't think he was "like the rest"This... I would like to find out what he blew on this breathalyzer test. When I was 21, I got a DUI (that I beat in court) on a night that I was the dd. I drank 3 beers in a 3 hours period, which for anyone that drinks, knows isn't much for a 5'11 185 pound guy. I blew a .08. If I blew a .001 less, I would have been legal. If HW blew around .10 something, then I think a lot worse than if he blew .08.An ex-bulldog/Falcon posted his bond.

Supes™
Here's a question; Under the lockout he is technically under no contract with the Steelers, right? So, can he be punished by the team or the NFL for an infraction that occurred during the lockout if he pleads or is found guilty??

mortatort
and people die because of it...absolutely true.I was just making the point that Hinds isn't so far removed from the general public in that regard.sidenote: I can't post my own thread to ask... but is there a place on this site where people trade Falcons cards, or other sports cards for that matter? The NFL indicated that Kenny Britt and Aqib Talib will have the commissioner's attention after everything settles, but the players seem to think that since they aren't currently representing the league, they shouldn't face discipline.
