1,000 to 1 that we would get ASO - enough already!

I don't disagree with you, it doesn't seem likely. But we don't know for sure what the cap will be, and we don't know for sure who will be re-signed. Everything NFL is pure speculation until we have an agreement.I think the Julio trade made it pretty obvious that we want to win now. I doubt very seriously we do go after him, I just think it's way to premature to say one way or the other. If Arhtur and TD really want him, they'll find a way to get him. Personally, I think he's worth trying to get.

We'll see.

Yep ......Human blankets don't grow on trees ........

i think Falcons will be very aggressive - just don't think it will be for Aso. If we got him, it would be exciting for sure. I think its an "either/or" with Nnamdi/Grimes - clearly Nnamdi is better but he will cost double what Grimes will cost - probably a little more than double.

What if Falcons signed Aso and Charles Johnson? that would be wild.

I may have overstated the "1000-to-1" - and I'm sure if Falcons sign Aso that certain board members will keep bumping this thread from now until 2013 :lol::lol:

I still will be stunned if it happens. Of course I was stunned about the Julio move as well.

But if Grimes does sign elsewhere, and we don't have to pay him, we could afford Aso more readily, and also gain a #1 pick ......Aso Dunta Franks , then we could use the #1 next year on DE or OT ......

Nobody man. But you miss my point. People want us to get one of the best defensive players in the NFL. So what? Some of you are making a big deal out of it

If there was 10 threads every day about we are going to go after Peyton Manning, would you not find it moronic?

yeah, that is easy enough....

Yep, our pass rush will be set. We won't regress next year by losing Gonzalez and maybe Abraham and not be able to replace them with draft picks. Our D-Line would be:

RDE: Abraham

NT: Haynesworth

UT: Babineaux

LDE: Johnson

Tell me how someone can block that next year. Plus you can probably get Haynesworth and Johnson for the price of Asomugha.

Kroy would shine with Haynesworth lined up beside him. I'm just sayin

All you need is an 8 oz. glass and a bottle of bleach.

If Falcons want to win, they need to not be afraid to make big moves. Julio was a step in the right direction, now they just need Haynesworth, Johnson, and Miller. TD is much more skilled at bringing quality FAs than drafting guys.

Gonzalez and Abraham are guys we need to replace soon. You think we're gonna be able to replace Gonzalez or Abraham with a second round and third round pick next year given how we have yet to develop a WR, DE, or CB? Without adding talent in the FA, we are going to regress after next year.

Well I'll just call up Blank and Dimitroff and they'll get right on that. While we're on it, I'll go get Barry Sanders out of retirement as well.

Ask the Redskins how that whole, "buy a winning team" thing works out.

The Redskins have more problems than signing FAs. After Brunell (who had 1 good year with the Redskins), they never had a solid QB, which is something you really can't get from the FA. I would ask the Bears how they feel about signing Peppers.

BVG isn't the one on the field. The players have to use their head when disguising a blitz. Look at Moore. He is the best at it and even when the QB knows he is coming, they don't really know from where.

Yes, he can tell them to disguise it just like he can tell them to sack the QB but it's ultimately up to the players. The best one he has is when all the LBs are in the gaps so the QB doesn't know who is coming, forcing the RB to stay in and block taking him out of the play. I hate his zone blitzes dropping JA98 and DTs into coverage. Leave that to Biermann/Abe, if anybody

Agree

Elite CB's make average DE's look elite.. ASO should be the first choice we go after. Also signing average DE's isn't going to make our defense better, Aso would. Blank and TD knows it.

No wide open WR's = More sack opportunities for our DE's. Fact is; if we only sign a DE, our defense will still be the same, if we sign Aso, our defense improves greatly.

That is ridiculous. The DL forcing the QB to get the ball out quick is AS important as DBs covering enough to give the DL time to get to the passer. The DL struggles to get pressure with only 4 and that HAS to change or the QB is going to find a target or just take off running. The DL/DB relationship is symbiotic.

Asomugha comes here means we're losing either Grimes or Robinson, which means that's going to be only 2 WRs on the field at a time that are well covered. Guess what happened against Green Bay, it wasn't Grimes or Robinson being abused. I'll give you a hint, it was a OUR NICKEL BACK that was getting abused.

Only in Madden will you see Asomugha, Brent Grimes, and Dunta Robinson on a Falcons depth chart. People need to get it through their thick head that we can't buy Asomugha on a credit card. We get Asomugha, who's going to get an astronomical contract, we will be losing other quality players. Cutting so-and-so and their 300,000 contract isn't going to cut it.
