It gives them a chance to see him this year and compare him to Minor. Minor may not be traded before the deadline, but if things look promising for Gilmartin. Minor could be dealt during the winter meetings.Most trades done during the trade dealine tend to be lopsided because teams are rushed to make a decision and a lot of times it turns out to be the wrong decision. Trades that happen during the winter meetings usually work out much better for both sides because there is a ton more time to make decisions about certain players.
