DiMiante
I would say that you two should get a room but I think it's actual against the law for inbreds to continue inbreeding. That doesn't seem to stop them from doing so, though.

triggerman
no excuses.with the julio trade we are in win now mode, which im all for. but mortgaging our future with julios trade, and the allegations of a big FA signing, we are in win now.no there are NO excuses. UptownHardHitta
I gave you an answer boy! Brees took 5 years to win a playoff game! Do you consider Drew Brees an elite QB?Since we are following the drew brees success model around here, I guess after year 5 anything less than NFCCG is unacceptable. It's a shame that you can be so dam defensive about Ryan. I was never in a position to use age as an excuse for brees, or any other quarterback. Some of you might have your own cut off point. Shyt, why not compare to flacco? Or Sanchez or marino? Are you using brees to be a smart arse or just to buy some more time? I don't think we need to hope Ryan is the next Marino, although a role in an Ace Ventura movie would be awesome.

dhuckdawg20
We will be entering 4th year of this regimen and coming off one of the most embarrassing playoff performances can this team in place with coaching staff and upper management survive another a season without any playoff success ..I do feel heads will roll with Blank not tolerating another let down at end of the year . From a front office standpoint and moves that were made in draft kind of felt like a win now move at all cost . Understandable Jones is also part of long term future but with that being said you dont scrap the process if you dont feel like you are 1 or 2 pieces away ..Im guessing front office will sure up some positions through free agency when it begins and we are off on our journey Outside other DE there really isnt a weak area or a dire need ..QB......check ..ranks anywhere between 8-12oline ......solid in run blocking and decent in its pass protectionwr - one of best in game and bold move in draft for Julio + depth TE- while Tony G isnt same player he once was still very reliable This team will have 4 years to gel and learn every aspect of each scheme on offense and defense. Blank has continued to pour money into this franchise with free agent signingsTHERE SHOULD BE NO EXCUSE THIS YEARNothing about defense? I'm not worried about our offense, at all. If Ryan doesn't do what Brees does, then is that the time to loose that age excuse? That question is directed to the ones who brought Brees into this conversation. Peyton
Here is the thing. There are 15 other teams in the conference. Most all of them are trying really hard to win and a lot of the teams are d*mn good. The difference between missing the playoffs completely and winning the Super Bowl can be razor thin. GB came really close to missing the playoffs completely last year, people forget all that. We'll see if it goes the Falcons way this year. It's nice to know that we have a team consistently in the conversation.

Lagniappe
Is there any excuse for this team not to have playoff success this year?Of course there is. If you don't believe me, check back on this board in January and possibly as early as November.
metatron360
Well losing in the playoffs with a good team is always dissapointing, on the other hand its not just ryan that is young but most of the team, even if we do lose we will have an intact team overall year to year for the next 10 years. So to say if we don't win it all in 1 or 2 years we will be at a lack of talent is not true at all. These guys will continue to grow better every year that said if we can continue to rank in the top teams year after year that helps build a dynasty and winning in the regular season hopefully culminating to a superbowl win to secure our team in history. I'm not worried about next year in the playoffs. Id we don't win it all who cares but atleast 13 wins will secure our starters and give them the chance to produce that win we all expect. markdzul
If there isn't any success in the playoffs this year, I bet the first thing I will hear is Ryan is still young, it is only his fourth year starting. My question is at what point is age not an excuse anymore? year 6, or 7? or sooner or later?gotta disagree here with ya. any realistic fan is going to start becoming frustrated with Matty if he starts making mistakes at this point. I really can't put our lack of playoff success on him. made a couple of bad decisions, but for the most part he has done pretty well. He is not nor will ever be Drew Brees in his prime passing for 400+ yards and five touchdowns. the offense does not require it. As far as i am concerned the kid is in his prime right now and for the next four to five years. The only way i can see us struggling is due to a bigtime injury to one of our topdogs. ryan, roddy, michael. other than that there is no excuse.... markdzul
Age will always be an excuse as Falcons continue to coddle Ryan.As scary as this sounds.......... that is the most rediculous statement you have ever made on these boards that i have read to this date..... markdzul
Nothing about defense? I'm not worried about our offense, at all.I have high hopes for our defense this season. If spoon develops into the player we are all hoping and BVG continues to develop his scheme under smith I like what we have going for us. we are a young and quick D. Like i said in the above post, I think injuries are the only thing that hold us back this year.

GB came really close to missing the playoffs completely last year, people forget all that. We'll see if it goes the Falcons way this year. It's nice to know that we have a team consistently in the conversation. Not only did GB come close to missing the playoffs, they were 30 seconds from losing the first playoff game and having all the discussion about " He can't win a playoff game" being about another QB on a GB messageboard. Then, after they destroyed us, the bears starting QB missed the second half of the next game and the steelers starting center missed the super bowl. There's always luck involved in a super bowl run. Not trying to belittle Rodgers/GB's accomplishments, they took advantage of the luck and certainly stomped the falcons flat, but luck is always involved. And I'm not going to worry about the playoffs, I enjoyed the HE double hockey sticks out of every single game during the regular season, didn't mind the losses, because you're going to lose a few here and there. Playoffs sucked, but the Packers had the better team that night.Going to concern myself now with what the team is doing to get ready for the season, wait for training camp and FA signings to start [ I think it'll be soon] and see what the team looks like going into the season- are they going to combine the aggression the D showed in the second NO game with a FA DE and a new more downfield attack on O? I'm excited to see the youngsters on D- see if Moore, Spoon & Jerry can step up and be the playmakers this D needs. And what will Jones do- I can see him lighting it up from the get go. Who'll play on the Oline- can Baker take his game up a notch, are Jackson, Johnson, Valdez, Reynolds & Hawley the real deal? That's what I thinking about now , got a long ways to go to get to the playoffs- if I worry about that now, I'll miss the good stuff going on now. And though we are hated rivals of each other, we would be crazy not to like our division being strong...of course each of us wants our team to be the strongest. The Birds are the truth
We won't make the playoffs this year. EVERYTIME we have the spotlight on us we just never do especially in back 2 back scenarios where we're trying to make the playoffs. & if we do we'll get blownout like we always do.Have we ever had back to back to back winning seasons in our Franchise history? I understand the Greenbay game was a big let down in the playoffs for every Falcon fan. But where heading in the right direction.
Goal Line D
All I'm gonna add is to he*l with "the process" talk! I'm done with it. That was all fine and dandy year 1 and perhaps 2 but that phrase needs to be burried under the practice field at Flowery Branch never to be heard from again.
