Karst41
It is easy to choose Mike Kenn in the voting. But the thing about Anderson is that he was just damm good. One year we released Anderson and that did not work out well. One phone call later and Mort was scoring points for us with out missing a beat.Aside from Dempsy was there ever a better Kicker in the NFL?Butthe real issue in my mind is that Anderson Retired as an Aint andshould be therefore be removed from the ballot . Falcon Fanatic
Kenn played 17 years for the Falcons and never missed a game. He never played in another uniform. Think about how amazing that is. Draft a Tackle at #13 overall and the next 17 years his position is covered. Uncanny. Morten's OT kick is legendary. But Kenn's dedication to this franchise, IMO, trumps Mort's accomplishments.Do the right thing people. It was a tough decision, but I had to go with Mike Kenn here. Even though you can't deny Mort's accomplishments, he did over half his time with the Aints while Kenn was here his entire career (and a good one it was) here in Atlanta. Kenn holds the franchise record for games played and started. Went to five straight Pro Bowls for us too. What a offensive line we had with Kenn, Van Note, and Fralic and Kenn, Fralic, and Chris Hinton.

FalconFanSince1970
Great stuff. For those of you who are talking about Kenn having to play his way in, as the head of the committee, believe me, these were very difficult choices to make. I think the fact that these three players have to play in is a testament to the extraordinary players who have come through the Falcons organization since its inception. There were a couple of things about Kenn that were taken into consideration: 1. His position. It's so rare that an offensive lineman is a unanimous favorite among a fanbase. Not to say that it's not possible, or that Kenn's not worthy, because he absolutely is. But taking into consideration the big question for us, which was "Who do you think of when you think of the Atlanta Falcons?" Kenn was a tough one to figure. 2. Kenn, just like Nobis, Humphrey, et. al., played in a different era than the Deions or the Rays or the Risons. The early '90s really brought out a flamboyance and character among athletes, and I think we can attribute that to the rise of ESPN starting in the '80s and athletes just, in general, getting more attention and TV time than their counterparts in the '60s and '70s.I think for any franchise, it's tougher for guys who played in the 60s, 70s and 80s to be considered ultimate fan favorites just because of the periods they played in and the difference in exposure between the eras. The other thing we took into account is when we're talking about absolute, total favorite players, the guys who played more recently have a distinct advantage over the more historic players simply because those players tend to be more fresh in most minds. What I'm really interested in seeing through this series and the polls is how the players from the 60s and 70s compare to the players in the past 20 years. The newer generation of Falcons fan likely grew up with the Dirty Birds or the DVD era and so I'm going to be interested in seeing how those particular players stack up against the historic players in the collective minds of you all. However this turns out, I think it's going to be a lot of fun to watch and I hope you all have as much fun participating, voting and debating!Good points. I would guess the average age of our members is somewhere in the 25-30 year range which likely means many never saw Nobis, Claude, WA31, Riggs, etc. Most of those guys will find votes hard to come by. My guess is this will most likely come down to Jesse, Deion, Bart and a few others.I will be here to give my account on the ole schoolers though.I think my top three favs are Jesse, Deion and Vick, but Harmon Wages is the guy that made me a Falcon fan. Adema1226
Kenn was before my time, and as much as I love Mort, if everyone is just voting on their personal favorites, I gotta go with Ray. He was and still is one of my all time favorite Falcons. He never got enough attention but he could be a beast. I always loved watching Buchanan. FalconFanSince1970
I'm definitely looking forward to your opinions on the old schoolers! You can count on it bro. By the way, although not a majority, there are many other ole schoolers that will chime in. Rev, Gritz, Tandy, Superfan, Since 68, Since 66, Phatty and many more. They have seen most of these legends live and in living color.P.S. this is way better than lockout fodder. Keep up the good work. Thank you sir. falconsd56
I side with the Kenn people.Dude was a flat out GREAT player.he anchored the Oline like few have.........and I say that in the context of history. If he played in a place like dallas or new york or even chicago, he would be in the hall of fame right now of that I am certain. Not to mention when the falcons drafted Whitfield, Ken did the right thing and switched over to the right side, and never bitched or complained about it. He just did it.... and even 15-16 years into the NFL he was still one of the better linemen in the league.Vote Mike Kenn.
ironhead1970
I was torn between Mort and Kenn. In the end I had to go with Kenn. 17 years w/ our birds. Not to mention the importance of OT vs Kicker.+1 So did I.

rcky_mtn_falcon
As an old-timer I can't believe Mike Kenn has to fight his way onto this bracket. Guy should be in the top 10, IMO.I agree ... I voted for Kenn in this poll. Now I pray to God Kenn doesn't miss being on the bracket and they end up putting Vick on it. As far as I'm concerned his name can be stricken from the history of this franchise.

84White32Quizz
Kenn was before my time and I loved Mort but for some reason I have to go with Big Play Ray. I got his jersey and I know he was burnt toast at times but he was just one of those players that I liked so I have to go with Ray.

HouseofEuphoria
Mike Kenn.Dude was Falcon through and through.17 years. There's only a handful of guys that even played that long.I'll give a shout out to Mort- he was clutch for us, but he was also clutch for the Saints for a heckuva long time. shaudyshaudback
Ray wouldn't have made that FG. Thank you for the groundbreaking news on telling us a cornerback wouldn't have made the game winning field goal.

Robb4242
WOW! Terribly disappointed in these fans who placed votes for Mort. While he had a great moment, he first & foremost considered himself a Saint, why should we do any less? And yet people still voted him in as a "favorite Falcon". Pathetic. Pathetic. Its not uncommon that players feel strongly about the team that drafted 'em.But I cannot help but wonder why you neglect the moments Andersen did provider (besides the kick), just because he considers himself a part of the team that drafted him and where he spent his first 12 (?) seasons with?
