Braves - Third Best Record in Majors

If Uggla wakes up for good webwill take the division. Prado will be back soon

I say Uggla and Heyward are the 2 biggest keys to just how far this team will go. If both start hitting in the 2nd half like they are capable of, we will take it the div and make a strong run for the WS. If they don't, then we can only hope for the WC and hope to get on a streak in the playoffs.

Either way I think we are all kind of thinking that this is a playoff team.

Which is never a bad thing.

Even if they do the braves could still use another big bat.

Or even a guy like Bourne who does a good job of getting on base and can fly would do wonders for the braves offense.

yeahi agree, i really like schaffer and want him to succeed, but i dont think that him or mcclouth in center are the answer, this year at least

The only issue I have with trading to get another bat is that, who says they will perform when they get here.

We should have all the firepower we need offensively, our guys just are not hot right now and if we go out and give up pitching to get a bat, what makes you think that bat is going to produce anymore than our team is now?

The only way we should trade for any offensive help is to give up position players, not pitching. If we go after a bat in the outfield then we have to send Nate or schafer or whoever on their way. There is only so much room for bench players.

I agree with you that if only we were hitting to career norms, this team would have ZERO problem offensively. None of us wants to give up our stellar pitching prospects for a bat--but that is exactly what it will come to if we try to get a bat because guys we'd rather trade, like McLouth and Schafer, have very little trade value.

I don't think our problem is an OF bat. We seriously need a major upgrade offensively at SS. Gonzalez is great defensively but man what I wouldn't give to get a great offensive player at SS. If the Braves had a real owner they would probably trade for Jose Reyes. I'm not the biggest Reyes fan but I would take him in a Braves uniform in a New York second. Heck I would be happy with J.J. Hardy. Anyone but Alex Gonzalez. Did you guys know he's only gotten in the runner from 3rd with less than 2 outs 4 out of 10 times this season? Awful and not to mention his hitting with RISP. Why Fredi continues to bat him in front of McLouth AND the pitcher is beyond me. For all of Uggla's problems at least he hits a homerun every now and again.

I dont necessarily disagree with you, but this is not a good example for your point. That is a 400 avg. in that situation.

You missed understood what I typed. I didn't say get a hit in those situations. I said get the runner home. You know like hitting a ground ball to 2nd would score the runner or hitting a medium deep fly ball to get the runner home. He's had 10 chances to get a runner home from 3rd with less than 2 outs this season and only 4 times has that runner come home to score. That's only 40% of the time which is absolutely horrible. Anything less than 75% (3 out of 4 times) is bad.

A run is a run. I don't care how it gets in.

This is definitely a high-ceiling team.

Rotation:

1.JJ - Top 3 pitchers in NL

2.Hanson - Has had a great year, slightly overshadowed by JJ's CY young-like year

3.Tim Hudson - He can pitch, needs to get it together. Could be a lot better

4.Derek Lowe - Quite possibly the biggest need for this team, we need him to be hot for this pennant race.

5. Beachy - Wow, do I like this kid. a Star in the making?

Lineup:

1.McCann-Hitting it the best hes ever hit it

2.Chipper-Chipper will always hit

3.Uggla-Could play so much better than he has been

4.Heyward-^Above

5.Freeman-What a great surprise, NL ROY?

6.Gonzalez-See Uggla

7.McLouth-Much better than last year

8.Schafer-We'll see how he goes

Prado-Arguably the best bat on the team needs to come back. In time for the Philadelphia series?

If all these guys play to their potential, imagine how scary the Braves would look?

World Series if we can put all the pieces together.
