smashmouthjoe
So, will NFL Network have exclusive rights to those games or will those of us with no access to NFL Network be able to see them elsewhere ?

phattywankenobi
Can't you just get it? I think it's 5 bucks per month...Charter dropped it after the first year, the alternative cable would be going from bad to worse, and everytime I watch a game at a friends house with satellite and the sky so much as sneezes the game cuts in and out.Anyways, I think they are talking about selling the rights to the Thursday night games to the highest bidder which would mean more viewers no longer have to circumvent the monopoly and watch through more legal avenues. smashmouthjoe
Some cable companies don't even offer NFL Network. NFL Network wanted to charge cable companies a premium, like HBO, to carry it. Most cable companies told them to shove it. I wanted to know if it will still be an exclusive for NFL Network or will somebody like ESPN have a shot at the Thursday games. But honestly, I think that the local channel here in Atlanta picked up the Atlanta vs Ravens...can someone verify this? I was at the game... smashmouthjoe
Yes, the local, over the air stations are required to carry the Thursday games when the local team is playing. But as of now, NFL network has exclusive rights to carry them otherwise.

smashmouthjoe
It was on the local channel, but you have to be in the Atlanta area to receive it. It is a rule that the local Stations must carry it.
Sun Tzu 7
Usually the NFL goes out of it's way to make sure they don't compete with college or high school football. For example previous NFL Thursday games are usually at the beginning of the season and towards the end of the season once the college season begins to die down.If the NFL does Thursday night games all season long it's going to put itself in direct competition with college Thursday night games that ESPN carries. It will be interesting to see what happens.
