RHEC
It's going to be a fiscal decision. If signing Aso guaranteed the Falcons would win the next 3 Super Bowls, then it would be an easy decision. But it doesn't. Asomugha's been in the league for 9 years and started every game for a team that lost 11 or more games for more seasons in a row than any team in NFL history.Aso would have a better chance winning a superbowl with us then you would with Redskins and even cowboys. He could have been a FA 3 years ago, but signed a 3 year contract extension with, with the possible exception of the Detroit Lions, is the worst run organization in all of the NFL?Now people think his sole consdiration will be winning a championship? Nah. It almost never is for any player.
madman88
LOL oh well if he said it then it must be true. You aren't really that gullible, I know you aren't.Babs was in his first full season as a starter when he was resigned. I am quite sure that the 5 million dollar a year contract he signed looked like a pretty good deal to him. And it surely wasn't a pay cut, more like a 500% raise.this is a business, and FA is a betting mans table sort a speak.... if u have the best piece on the table, ppl are going to bid, the only difference with this is that dunta WANTED to come here... weather he was telling the truth about he could get more money or not is unknown, neither u nor i kno for a fact...if u look closely babs earned that starting spot and it showed throught that year ''contract year'' that ppl keep saying, and thats the year you have to perform, i believe he could have gotten more if he decided to test FA.... someone ALWAYS over pay for a player... I think the Falcons terribly overpaid for Dunta but there isn't much point in worrying about it now.
shockerfalcon
CJ has already said he wants to say. players always say those kinds of things. Edwards has said deep down he really wants to stay with the vikings. Unfortunately for him they don't want him. I think the Falcons have a real good chance at bringing CJ home and he would be worth pursing. To all the guys who say he is a one year wonder answer this when was he supposed to put up big numbers. It was his first full year as the starter and he put up 11 sacks. playing behind peppers and rucker im sure his opportunities were few and far between yet he recorded at least 3 sacks each year in the league. he has 13 fewer career sacks than edwards despite edwards starting since 07. And again we have the money to resign him. Yas has said that they were already talking out a deal before the lockout.

Peyton
Peyton, couldn't the Falcons use some cap tricks to defer Dunta's money?I don't think the Falcons are going to have problems getting under the cap. It's easy to manage. I think the concept of staying profitable will keep Blank from getting into a bidding war for Asomugha though, and trust me, there is going to be a bidding war, even if it is just between Snyder and Jones. I would rather see us pursue DE/OT plus Zach Miller than go for Aso.
