Yasinkas on Falcon FA

Recommended Posts

You are out of your mind. That is funny though. You are talking about the guy who said, "This is why we play the game......to get paid." and wrote "Pay Me Rick" on his shoes when he was only making 10 mil a year as a franchise player.

Babs didn't take a pay cut and he wasn't a FA either. Neither was Brady.

yea the same guy who said he could have gotten more somewhere else... yep him... babs was going to be a FA in 09, they signed him to an extension(08) during the season.... he could have said no and went to get more money... my point to all this is that it isnt about the money...

LOL oh well if he said it then it must be true. You aren't really that gullible, I know you aren't.

Babs was in his first full season as a starter when he was resigned. I am quite sure that the 5 million dollar a year contract he signed looked like a pretty good deal to him. And it surely wasn't a pay cut, more like a 500% raise.

I got nothing but respect for you as a poster here and your knowledge of the game, but this is the thing .....Aso would put our defense over the top NOW, Edwards will not ...Aso, much greater than any FA DE ... I'm not even convinced Edwards is any better than Beerman, but he would be sweet to have in the rotation ....Johnson aint going anywhere, so why not play for Aso ?... there are zero question marks on the impact Aso would bring, yea, 3 high priced corners, but sometimes you go against the grain for results, IMO this move , with our expected high power offense is a Lombardi trick ........I been a fan 40 mfkng years, and I'm tired of waiting .....

Let me start if off with.... If Charles Johnson is a FA... He is up for grabs... Would Carlina be the front runners... yes... The guy is up for grbs tho.

I'm not even a Edwards fan but i think he is better then Biermann... Thats no knock Biemann.. I think he is a good rotational player with potential at the RDE position... I dont get why some say Edwards benefited from Allen and Kevin Williams... Babs and Abe is just as good at rushing the passer.

I like Aso... I do... Cap rise... Aso will make over 12 million a year... We know Duntas contract and Grimes will get a contract... We also have so many FA's to resign... Tieing up that much money at one position is the problem.

I get wanting that Lombardi trophy... I want it also... But there is a thing called a cap... If we could get Aso on a Dunta Robinson type contract... That would be gold but dude is going to get paid...

We would be real nice with Aso , Dunta, and Grimes... I know just like the Hayneworth negotiations... The Aso bidding war will hit a point where we tap out (if we show interest)

I would be all for CJ, but the Pantys got the second lowest payroll in the league, no way they let CJ walk, even Marty Hurney is not that dumb ...... It's just that to me Edwards is a clone of Beerman ...don't get me wrong, I would welcome him to the rotation, but i actually think we might be better off to go after Babin , and if we are not in the Aso derby, sign a decent vet FA corner as a stop gap ..... ......

Peppers (probably the most talented DE in the league) walked away... The only way i can see the Panthers keeping him if they over pay... I could see that happen... I also think his hometown team has a chance... It also depends on Charles Johnson.. Like Peppers.. Do he want to go to a contender right bnow or stay loyal to his rebuilding team.

ill rather go after Andre Carter then Babin... He played that 9 technique mostly last year but most of all.. I read that dude is trying to get paid... He knows this is his one good chance of getting good money as a FA... At the wrong side of 30... ill pass unless he is ready to take an acceptable contract.

Yea i can see us signing a Vet NB... Eric Wright is a interesting guy... He had a down 2010 year but dude had good 2008 and 2009 seasons... The guy is a young CB with potential

CJ has already said he wants to say. :D

"Yeah, I want to stay here," Johnson said. "We'll see what happens with the CBA, but this is where I want to be. I just like Charlotte, like what I've established here, and hopefully we can figure out a way to keep that going."

It's okay you can hate, whatever makes you sleep at night. And we have the money to re-sign him in which Hurney has said they will be "aggressive" resigning FA's.

I'm not hating. I'm just saying....that's what most guys are going to say. If he was that determined to stay there, they probably would have already worked something out without him getting to explore the free agent market.

freebird310... You will like this

While we wait for free agency to happen, a lot of players have openly campaigned for certain players to join their teams. How about Nnamdi Asomugha in Atlanta?

RW: That would be great! I would like to have him on my team. He’s a guy you put on the field and you can dictate the rest of the defense. He can go one-on-one with one guy for four quarters and shut them down, and the other 10 can go play. He’s a great attribute for any team. I would love to have that guy. You can’t go out and get another player like him to do what he does.

I think I can make a complete list of Falcons players that wouldn't be THRILLED with the Falcons signing Asomugha:

Hmm, let me see:

Brent Grimes - the end.

Short list lol.

Oh I think Grimes would love having Aso here.

Grimes would get more favorable match ups in the slot.

that said I don't think we sign him... I think we got after a guy like Marshall from Carolina.

There is no corner in the league that is talented enough to start that wants to not start.

And certainly not a corner who is a restricted FA.

You don't go after bronzes when you can go after gold. We get Aso or we don't sign any CB and move on (unless we resign Grimes).

So if the Falcons don't get Aso you think they should roll Chris Owens out there at nickel next year?

Not a fan of that plan.

IMO Owens is not even going to make the team ....I see us getting a stop gap vet and Franks assuming Owens spot ...I guess he would be eligible for the PS ......

Well that wouldn't be a problem if we signed Aso. I just hope TD isn't that stupid by not even trying to go after him.

It's going to be a fiscal decision. If signing Aso guaranteed the Falcons would win the next 3 Super Bowls, then it would be an easy decision. But it doesn't. Asomugha's been in the league for 9 years and started every game for a team that lost 11 or more games for more seasons in a row than any team in NFL history.
