Finally
I am not sure what to do about it this year. I'd like to see the tradition continued but I doubt I will have time to run it and I am not sure with all that has happened I can guarantee a prize this year.It has been 2 months since the tornado hit our home and we still haven't seen a penny from our insurance. Actually we saw it but then our mortgage company took it hostage and apparently they have the right to dole our insurance money in thirds and only after we fill out paperwork and wait for lengthy processing times. The, State Farm, insurance check was also only 2/3s of what it should be so actually Wells Fargo is holding on to a check and plans to only initially give us 1/3 of a check that is 2/3s of what it should be.You want even more fun with fractions? Ok. I can oblige.SO, meanwhile we have had no choice but to begin paying for repairs and cleanup out of our own pocket so when the first 1/3 of the 2/3 check arrives it will only be 1/2 of what we have already spent. So, anyone want to run the game this year?

phattywankenobi
Sorry to hear about your troubles. It's a shame when people pay for years on something like clockwork and when they finally need insurance to do what it promised they drag it out putting the burden on their client. TeamPlayer1
No one in our home was injured but the house and yard took a beating.I am not seeing any volunteers for running my game...I have had a similar experience with insurance companies plus in my case I needed an attorney who then received 30% of my eventual settlement.I am sorry for your situation and hope all is eventually resolved. Tandy
Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that. I hope it all works out for you. We had a giant palm tree in our front yard before Francis came through and put it on our roof - and after dealing with the insurance company long enough - we just went out - bought a chain saw - took it down and had a roofer come over and correct the damage.I feel your pain. Good luck.I don't know if I'll have the time to devote to the NFC South Challenge - but I can try if no one else steps up - and at least offer assistance if nothing else. I will do my best to come up with a prize. It largely depends on if we can get all the money we need for repairs and then whatever the landscaping cost will be this fall. We lost all but two trees (and one of them looks bad) and the insurance does not pay for replacing them.

Finally
Dude I work in the industry, and as long as you actually do the repairs, anything held back should be 100% recoverable ...generally the Mortgage company would do a final inspection once the work is complete and release the money at that point ......most resttoration contractors should get a draw schedule worked out thru the MC, your contractor should be working with you on that end .....But therein lies the problem. Everything is set up in a way where this is the beginning of the process when I am already in the middle. I have had to self-contract up to this point because had I waited like my neighbors whose tarp came off in a thunderstorm I would have also sustained more damage. It isn't really a matter of things being held back as much as adjuster incompetence. He mis-measured our roof, not by a little, but by a lot. He is not giving us all we need to rebuild the walls and he disregarded things I told him. But between the lawyer and the contractor I have high hopes I will eventually get most of my money back and pay for repairs going forward. The thing with the MC is that they *COULD* move faster but they choose not to. I assume they are making interest off of my check because there is no excuse for every step to take 3-5 business days. They are protecting their interests while I sit in a damaged home.
