Lou_Dog
this is what happens when there is no football going on. Players get bored and start saying stupid ****
The Dirty Bird
It's true though. For better or worse our coaching staff and front office provide only positive support for all of our players, which fosters a mutual respect -- this has helped our team build one of the best chemistries in the NFL.Example 1) John Abraham's down year. Did they say he was old and losing a step? Did they say the defense needed to be better and particularly JA55? No. They said the defense needed to improve, but they thought John was still an elite DE and that he would rebound and have a fantastic season. That means a lot to a player.Example 2) Jamaal Anderson. The CS or FO have never been harshly critical of Anderson and have allowed him to continue to try and become a good player. It's never been: Anderson really needs to step up, he isn't cutting it right now. It's: Jamaal has continued to progress and he is becoming a better player. He looked great in offseason workouts and we are excited with what he may do this season. Did he do anything? No, but this kind of confidence means a lot to a player and motivates him to try his best for the team.Throwing a player under the bus maybe motivate them for one game to show whoever the "thrower" was that he was wrong, as kind of an "F u, man." But providing positive support and faith, a player is motivated to really contribute for the team over the long term to the help the team realize their investment in the player. Knight of God
I'm surprised that people didn't know that these players have thoughts, feelings, and opinions...LOL!!! A starting RB from the Patriots back in the terrible days is a friend of the family and spouts more irritation than any other player I know or have known. Even had thoughts about the MV7 ordeal. A good bit of guys have told me things about some players that would make you say, "Whaaa???" We forget that we are not the only people who make comments. We just don't have to worry as much about backlash! I have been saying since last year that I'd love a shot at getting Gholston out here. I have heard that he is being mistreated and not because he so-called sucks. He doesn't fit in the locker room and already has a reputation of...YIKES!!! Being a nerd.Overall, the same person who told me that, also said that he'd be a serious upgrade opposite himself and would help him increase in sacks and bring some interesting conversation to the locker room. LOL!!! He also said that he would be best at End and not LB. The mentality is all wrong.
The Dirty Bird
I agree that we have a great organization that treats the players right but for him to bring this up about the Jets years later just shows that boredom is setting in.I agree, but I bet you its 30% boredom, 70% harbored resentment and someone said something to him that triggered this. He'd be busier if this was a normal offseason, but I wouldn't be surprised if he still said this in a normal offseason. He'll be a potential HOF candidate as a pass rusher when his career is over, especially if he gets a ring with the Falcons, so being treated like sh*t in NY is definitely something he would carry with him.To support the HOF case, if John Abraham only plays two more years and has a reasonable 10 sacks a year (could have 12 this year and 8 the next, 13 and 7, etc), then he will have 122.5 sacks for his career. That would put him ahead of Simeon Rice and in 13th place all time. I think he has about 4 years left of solid production, so if in the following two years he manages a combined 15 sacks, he will have 137.5 sacks total tying him for 6th place with HOF'ers John Randle and Richard Dent. That would also put him ahead of HOF'ers Lawrence Taylor, Rickey Jackson, Derrick Thomas, and potential and likely HOF'er Jason Taylor. He's currently at 122.5 sacks as I said, and if he can manage 20 more before he ends his career he will claim sole ownership of 5th place all time in sacks, trailing only Bruce Smith, Reggie White, Kevin Greene, and Chris Doleman. And he'd be bumping likely HOF'er Michael Strahan to 6th, as well as ranking above all of the other great all-time pass rushers I already named. He will be at 122.5 if he gets 20 over the next 2 years. He isnt already at 122.5. I think he will be in the HOF but not sure if we can count on another 40 sacks out of him. Which is what it would tske to put him in 6th.
Quarterback
Wow! That's some serious resentment what, 5 years later?Abe, when healthy, has been great for us. I just hope he doesn't go too far with some of his comments and get reprimanded...or worse!I find it amazing what some people are saying on twitter and facebook for all the world to see...and it can never be completely erased! Maybe you should read the CoC and get a better idea of what's expected.....As far as Abe's comments, was there any need to post all of this mess on twitter, absolutely not. But if the precedent is going to be that saying some stuped things on the internet is reason to cut a player then we're going to have a hard time filling a roster. These guys are human just like us and say stupid things just like us. Only difference is nobody notices when we do it.
