Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros

Friday, June 10, 7:05 PM CT, Minute Maid Park

Tim Hudson, RHP 4-5, 4.14 ERA VS Aneury Rodriguez, RHP 0-3, 5.28 ERA

Braves:Hudson struggled for the second time in three starts Sunday, but said his previously ailing back was fine. Since tossing a one-hitter vs. the Crew on May 4, he has gone 0-3 with a 6.66 ERA. He is 3-0 with a 1.19 ERA in five career starts vs. Houston.

Astros:Rodriguez doesn't have a winning decision even though the Astros won three of his seven career starts. He made up for a six-run, four-inning performance on May 30 by pitching a quality start on Saturday against San Diego.

Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros

Saturday, June 11, 6:05 PM CT, Minute Maid Park

Mike Minor, LHP 0-2, 5.06 ERA VS Jordan Lyles, RHP 0-1, 4.91 ERA

Braves:Minor pitched well in the two starts he made for Atlanta in May, and produced a gem on Sunday for Triple-A Gwinnett. The 23-year-old southpaw carried a perfect game into the seventh and held Buffalo to just one hit over eight shutout innings.

Astros: After storming out of the gates, allowing two runs in seven innings in his Major League debut on May 31 at Wrigley Field, Lyles went just four innings on Sunday, hitting two batters in a 7-2 loss to the Padres.

Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros

Sunday, June 12, 1:05 PM CT, Minute Maid Park

Tommy Hanson, RHP 7-4, 2.59 ERA VS Brett Myers, RHP 2-5, 5.02 ERA

Braves:Hanson has quietly gone 6-1 with a 2.11 ERA in his past nine starts. Opponents have hit just .164 against him during that stretch. One of the wins notched came May 16, when he limited the Astros to one earned run in seven innings.

Astros:Myers allowed a three-run double to Cardinals pitcher Jake Westbrook in a 7-4 loss on Tuesday, one start after earning his first winning decision since April. He still went six innings for the 43rd time in his 46 starts for the Astros.

Atlanta Braves vs. Houston Astros

Monday, June 13, 7:05 PM CT, Minute Maid Park

Derek Lowe, RHP 3-4, 3.73 ERA VS Wandy Rodriguez, LHP 3-3, 3.41 ERA

Braves:Lowe righted his rollercoaster season Wednesday, when he carried a no-hit bid into the seventh inning against the Marlins. Consecutive one-out singles in the seventh accounted for the only hits he surrendered in his 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

Astros:Rodriguez, on the disabled list since May 23 with an elbow injury, makes his first start in more than three weeks. He made a Minor League rehab start on Wednesday for Double-A Corpus Christi and emerged healthy.

I still can't believe we just swept the Marlins and scored a total of 7 runs doing it. I'll take the wins any way we can get them but man if we don't have a blowout pretty soon I might die of a heart attack. This is getting pretty bad. We need to take at least 3 of 4 in this series. Anything less would be unacceptable. Who knows maybe the Phillies will keep losing and we'll continue to gain on them. Only 2 games back now!

Problem A: Exercise 1, Part 2:

Suppose you’re coding a 2D pool game where the camera can rotate around the table. If the bumper that the cue ball is about to hit goes from (350, 200) to (440, 250), and the ball is approaching it with an incoming velocity of [50, 60], what should the ball’s resulting velocity be?

Solution:

B = [Dx Dy]

B = (440, 250) – (350, 200)

B = (90, 50)

N = [Dy –Dx] = [50, -90]

= SQRT ((50)^2 + (-90)^2_

= SQRT(2500 + 8100) = SQRT(10,600)

= 102.956

N’ = [50/102.96, -90/102.96]

N’ = [.4856, -.8742]

P = (-Vi *N’)*N’

P = ([-50, 90] * [.4856, -.8742]) * N’

P = (-102.96) * [.4856 -.8742]

P = [-50 90]

Vf = 2*P + Vi

Vf = 2(-50, 90) + (50, 60)

Vf = (-100, 180) + (50, 60)

Vf = [-50, 240]

Uggla batting 2nd = early night for me

Seems like only yesterday we were all talking about how we think Fredi will do well and both Heyward and Uggla would have monster seasons...... lol

Uggla was the #2 hitter basically his whole career with the Fish.

If we could somehow trick his brain into thinking he's actually still playing for Miami, he might actually remember what it's like to be a member of society that possesses a male reproductive organ. Unfortunately, that would require that we only allow 417 people into the ballpark.
