The phrase "defense wins championships" is now blasé.

The thing about the Falcons is that their "elite" historical significance was on defense.

We have a defensive minded coach.

And actually a defensive minded OC.

But we have decided in a BIG way to build our identity ... Our success ... Through our offense.

Maybe just the hands we were dealt ... Or are we partaking in a copycat league culture?

i believe we have tried the run and stop the run model and its come up short, so the FO and staff are trying to evolve us into the passing team du jour, that is now the nfl.

we are inbetween identity's

Yes ... You are right ... That is why the question is so interesting. Which would you prefer?...

well a high power offense makes the crowd scream. i enjoy s dominant defense, but i remember the awful super bowls of the ravens, and steelers.

gimme a big time offense that is poised to score at any moment.

No love for special teams?

Triggerman

considering that currently the NFL is going thru major QB changes with many teams, how do you not play some scrub QBs on the schedule? I don't think any team will go a year without 5-6 games versus inexperienced and sloppy QBs for awhile. Unless you think 20+ teams have elite QBs.

Elite Defense Average Offense

An elite offenses could put up a lot of points fast but also put that average "D" on the field longer.

An elite "D" could get off the field quicker and get t/o and give the average "O" more attempts better field position.

Losing 42-39 feels the same as losing 13-10 as does winning regardless of point total or margin of victory...Defense still wins

Championships in my view.
