JaQuizz Rodgers

I was lobbying hard for another RB to sit behind Quizz and Turner, but I'm starting to believe that Quizz may just be the guy to open this offense up and make more chances for monster plays.

I can actually see Turner starting, but getting less snaps in the 2nd and 3rd and bringing in Snelling and Quizz more. Then bringing Turner back in the fourth...fully rested and jakked up.

The closer we have all wanted.

I think our RB depth is fine. Snelling and Turner are the power runners whereas Quizz is our explosive back. I also concur with your opinion that Turner will see less carries.

I know my opinion might be biased, but I truly believe he was the steal of the draft.

The opposing defenses literally won't see him coming.

I think Turner and Quizz are the ultimate one two punch.

Backs like Dunn, Rice and MJD have shown that height is overrated and the lack of it can be an advantage. I think Quizz will have an immediate impact on the offense, particularly with his hands. Easily the best player we acquired based on round and immediate impact IMHO.

I'm thinking Falcons got their Reggie Bush, one who costs millions less.

So many possibilities- Love the idea of 4 wideouts and Rogers as the RB, or a 3 wide set with Rogers and Turner or Rogers split out coming back for a reverse.

If Rogers is in the backfield, the whole D is distorted because they have to account for him catching a pass in the flat and taking it to the house. That's one less LB or S to cover White , Jones & Gonzo. That's the half second of hesitation that allows White and Jones to get open.

With Jones and Rogers added, most Ds won't be able to cover everything- what they're going to do is leave deep routes open. If Ryan gets his mechanics better and develops a good rapport with Jones, this will be an incredibly effective O.

If Quizz can pass block we may have a winner.

I hope the Falcon's make an effort to resign Snelling, but he sounds like he wants a shot at some starter time/money. If we don't resign Snelling, I'd like to bring in a veteran backup as well.

Dunn was a very good pass blocker- it's about technique and leverage, don't know how Rogers will do, but small stature doesn't preclude him from being a good blocker.

I wasn't questioning if he could because of size ... I'm just not aware of his capacity. I don't watch enough west coast football to have seen him in action, and all the highlight videos are of him running or catching :)

If he can pass block adequately that means we can use him in more single back sets, which I think will suit his game a lot, and allow us to stretch other teams out more in the passing game. A 3 wide set with Quizz in the backfield should be a very effective formation ... based on what I've seen of Quizz's abilities in college ( and if they translate to the NFL ). However, in that formation he's going to have to be able to handle a blitzer if need be.

I'm not sure about his technique, but it is said he is fearless, and willing to take on anybody ......

Actually did that for other posters- figured you knew that, but a lot of posters reading that may not have known.

I think Jacquizz is the one player all us Falcons fans were collectively excited for drafting. As a lot of us here, I've been high on Jacquizz for about 3 years now. His primetime breakout game being the one where he single handedly dismantled Mark Sanchez and the USC Trojans. Those salty about drafting Jacquzz probably just didn't know who he was, or just looked at his height/weight/speed numbers and were left underwhelmed. Jacquizz is one of the more all-around, dynamic players to come out in a while. He's shown he can handle the load, and here he will not be asked to carry the load.

More shifty than fast, but can breakaway at any given time. Powerful and stout. Outstanding vision and feel. Excellent receiver. Strong competitor. Leader.

If the guy was 5'10'' he'd would've gone in the 2nd round easily.

Agreed. He destroyed USC that day, a defense including Clay Matthews, Rey Maleuga and Brian Cushing.

Totally agree because nobody wants to tackle a big fresh power back in the 4th quarter. Lets just MM will learn how to use our weapons effectively!!

Quiizzz!!! Everyone keeps talking about Quizz's size. He may be 5'6" but the dude is packing 200 pounds. In fact I think him being 5'6" will be an advantage for him. Also, you can look at his track record. If I remember correctly he had the 2nd most rushing yards in Texas high school history. You could argue that it doesn't mean much if it was montana or north dakota, but this is texas. Then he rocked the Pac 10 which is no joke (although I'm sure some here will beg to differ). He's done it on every level and there's no reason to expect that he wont do it again. Lastly, the dudes got hands. I mean, how perfect is he for the falcons. Once he's in the secondary it's going to be really hard for a cornerback to bring him down given his size and shiftiness. A safety has a chance but that's where Julio comes in with his downfield blocks :D

Having graduated from a pac 10 school, i have seen some of quizz, and as much as people talk about 40 times, size, and other stats, this guy just has a knack for making people miss. Hes also not a pure scar back type ala norwood, he ran well between the tackles throughout his college career.

I know nothing about JR except what you other Falcons fans have said about him.

Sounds like he's small, and it sounds like he like to hide himself behind larger O-line players and such.

But it also sounds like bigger defensive players try and tackle high on him when he's low because he's small.

Dang, this is confusing. :-)

According to most everyone who has saw him play they say that he's not fast, but elusive, meaning he runs behind bigger players more or less I would think?

Does this mean Mike Mularkey is finally going to wake up and start calling more Screen Plays?

I've been screaming about the Falcons not calling enough screen plays for years.

And BTW: "how is turner and snelling at blocking?". We know that Ovie M. Is a pro bowl FB blocker. So I just wonder how go Snelling and Turner is?
