Supplement picks for 2011 NFL Draft?

Recommended Posts

Supplement picks for guy leaving and what the value is on them. Should we pay them or let them go with no first round pick next year TD may let some of these guys go as he is so good late in the draft finding good value picks?

LG-Harvey Dahl-I think he would pull the highest you can get which would be a "3rd" rounder.

LT-Tyson Clabo-I think Clabo like Dahl would draw another "3rd" rounder especially coming off a pro-bowl.

OLB-Stephen Nichols- These is a tough one he may not be worth a 3rd in some peoples mind because he wasn't a starter but has played alot more than most backups and will likely get starter money else were and if he plays slighty above average then he would draw the falcons another 3rd rounder.

RG-Justin Blalock-In my eyes the guy who gets the least amount of spot light but may be the best OL the falcons have and as many falcon games as I've watched I rarely saw him giving up a sack but then again some people seem to think Blalock's play has caused Baker to just be an average LT at best because he having to help out to much but in my opinion I think Blalock's our second best behind Clabo and will draw a 3rd rounder if he leaves for more money.

Brent Grimes - This is an easy one he will stay and if someone was to sign him I believe the Falcons tendered him with a 1st and 3rd as he is a restricted free agent but if some would give the Falcons a 1st and 3rd for Grimes as much as I like him I'd have to let him go.

OLB-Mike Peterson- I think he would net the Falcons another 3rd rounder if he went else were and played a full season with no injuries.

Other guys that will be Free Agents -Brian Finneran,Matt Bryant,Michael Koenen,Trey Lewis,Jerious Norwood,Michael Peterson,Will Svitek,Brian Williams

Koenen may land them a 4th or 5th rounder But not sure what kind of a pick you get for Punters or kickers if they go else were.

My Take

I think that Dahl or Blalock is gone(I think Blalock) as they took Mike Johnson in the 3rd last year and projects to be a pretty good player and they also took Joe Hawley in the 4th and was projected to replace McClure at center but can also play Guard as well and is listed as a Guard then that leaves RT Tyson Clabo and I don't think there is as much depth at the tackle spot as there is at Guard but it would either be Garrett Reynolds,Andrew Jackson or Jose Valdez some are high on Valdez and others think that Jackson was a great pick in the 6th but if the Falcons plan on really hand over the Offense to Matt Ryan I think Clabo stays. But he may want to much money as he may get LT money else were. Stephen Nichols I think will be gone as there will be teams willing to give him starter money to start.I think Grimes stays.

The guys that will be gone - Justin Blalock or Harvey Dahl,Stephen Nichols,Tyson Clabo

The guys that stay- Brent Grimes,Tyson Calbo

I'm still stuck on the two gaurds they have great depth behind them so they could afford to let both of them walk. But Clabo is a really hard one I don't think they'll give him LT money which he may get else were but then again they really can't afford to lose him either as there really is no hair apparent or what ever the saying goes.

Plus remember if the Falcons were to sign lets say Ray Edwards and Jonathan Joesph and a LT or RT to replace Tyson Clabo then they would give away 3 of the possible 4 3rd rounders so all in all they should just keep all of them and sign the guys to improve there Defense. But lets say they just sign Ray Edwards and let all of them go they could end up with four or five 3rd round picks in next years draft

You mean compensatory picks... Yea we woul get some... It depends on contact (how much per year) and playing time

Realistically

LG-Harvey Dahl- 4th - 5th round **around 5 - 6 mil a year **

LT-Tyson Clabo- 3rd round **around 6.5 - 7 mil a year**

OLB-Stephen Nichols- 5th round **getting around 4 mil a year**

RG-Justin Blalock- 5th round **getting around 4 million a year** (i think we will resign)

Brent Grimes - He is a real RFA so he is not going any where

Oh thats what he meant. Yea Grimes isnt leaving anyways. we put a 1st round tender on him, but i think we resign him long term.

I think we keep Blalock, but i wish we threw a franchise tag on clabo. replacing two Olinemen is not going to be easy.

Clabo is a good RT... No doubt.. I'm not taking that away from him with this statement but... I think we can because its more about the system.. Dahl is not the most talented guy... He is just a really good fit in our system... I think we could replace 2 guys... I think 3 will be very hard.

The one thing ill say.. Guys like Will Svitek (going into his 3rd year now and has even start and played alot) , Garrett Reynolds (going into his 3rd year and played a couple of snaps) , and Jose Valdez (going into his 3rd year) ... Also we have Mike Johnson and Hawley (if we need him to play guard) .... I honestly think we can get by in replacing 2 guys if we have to...

But yea.. I think when we didnt Tag Clabo... TD kinda showed his how much he value the guys in our system... If Clabo was a must have.. We could have tagged him then worked on a deal when the CBA is done...

I think we will offer him 5 mil or a lil more a year but i think a team like the Lions will offer him 6-7 million

supplement picks? You have to explain this one to me. I think you have Tenders confused with Supplemental Draft or I have not been paying enough attention to the NFL rules.

There will be a supplemental draft for players that apply for it. It will be held in July. So far nobody has applied.
