UGA 5th best job in College Football

If only that were true.rolleyes.gif

I was going to comment on that too, but I see that the Negasaurus Rex's are out in full force in this thread and my e-rep is too important to me to waste it on making snide remarks about UGA.

But yeah, a lot of people come into Georgia due to the lack of an abundance of talent in the surrounding states outside of Florida. Not a huge amount of talent in South Carolina, Tennessee, North Carolina, or even Alabama really although AL has considerably more talent than the aforementioned states.

we have so many bordering schools and we have a number of instate guys who moved into the area and don't have a loyalty to uga as you have in states like louisiana and alabama that there is no way even if uga had 14-0 years that we would get all we target in our state, but overall if we are doing well we will get the majority of the guys we target in the state of georgia. you are right on the talent in our state and the surrounding states (other than uf) not being close to what we have.. i know georgia is the #1 state of prospects signed and playing in the sec and we already have what 176 instate guys with division 1 offers.

regarding the article i agree with Cuz UGA is a top 5 job nationally. We have an abundance of instate talent, great facilities, a ton of money, and great tradition. That is why the past 2 years are at all acceptable in athens and why you see so much heat on this staff.

Pretty good list, Tennessee is definitely a top 20 job and would probably be higher if we had solid prospects in the state. For being in the south, Tennessee just doesn't produce as much top notch talent as you would think.

Not located in the sunbelt where you can be outside year round maybe? Regardless, I think you guys can still recruit enough players. Just seeing the history of the program it's certainly been done before. And every program faces some hurdle. Honestly I think too much blame is being put on one thing. No disrespect intended to a fellow SEC member, and btw I debate stuff like this with some gator friends as well (go figure).

Tennessee has never really had a big program bringing in players from outside the state, it's just rough when you basically have to go outside the state to pull in high quality talent that you can't get locally. I would definitely say a couple other reasons Tennessee is a little bit lower is due to the facilities and athletic department. While the facilities are nice, some are very out dated, but as soon as our new facility gets built it will be second to none. As far as the athletic department goes, we all know what that's been like the past few years.

No doubting what you say about the athletic dept. comings and goings. That's one of the things I was alluding to when I said too much blame is being put on having to recruit out of state. Junior Kiffin came in on his Trojan horse and sold everybody there on how he needed to create a stir to get the program noticed. But TN has had some great players from out of state.
