UGA 5th best job in College Football

Recommended Posts

I think you're splitting hairs after Texas. That's far and away the best setup to win big, rich, and easy in CFB. Unstoppable money, in state talent, and a decent, but hardly dominant league. OU is the only program even halfway on UT's level in that conference.

Feel Mark Richt made it a much better job then it was before he arrived. There are great facilities, fans and loads of money.

Talent base within the 5 hour Radius of Athens is terrific.

Feel 5th place is right considering the factors Andy figured in.

No we are not Texas, but we are something better we are the Georgia Bulldogs.

Same for me with UNC but cmon. Texas is a way better job than UGA. Not to say UGA isn't a great job which it is but i mean really.

Not a matter of comparison, it is a matter of my views and feelings about my school.

When I pray to the lord in the morning and I thank the lord every day for being a graduate and post graduate of the University of Georgia.

Those degree's and what I learned at Georgia have helped me enjoy a happy and prosperous life

Texas may be a better job as you say, then I can say Georgia prepares you for a better life.

IMHO, Georgia is as good a job as there is in the country, even when its down.

Everything is there. Recruiting base, academics, alumni, fan base, structure, and unmatched tradition. Georgia was a university decades before Florida was a legitimate state.

On top of that, few places are more desirable to live. Wallace Butts stayed in Athens when he had to step down in 1960 after a legendary career. Jim Donnan still lives in Athens a decade after he was fired. Dooley, of course, still lives 5 blocks from Butts-Mehre. Scores of assistants have moved back to Athens when they retired, long after they left Georgia. Some had been fired. Frank Sinkwich stayed in Athens until he died. Charley Trippi still lives there. Both are Pennsylvanians.

Clearly, there's something about Athens that attracts people.

Georgia has always been a desirable job. And like other top-5 jobs, it gets better every year.

I definately agree with where UGA is ranked, not only is it a great university, lots of money, has little competition for instate talent, really good tradition, and of coarse is in the SEC. I was actually surprised how high AU was ranked! I also thought UF was ranked too high, no knock on the program but simply from a stand point of the schools that are in state and the competition for recruiting it should definately be top ten but thought it was a tad high, also thought FSU was low on the list
