Saints and New Orleans are closer than ever

II'm really not trying to be insulting. I just heard that she was a Lesbo and can't find anything about her husband. Where's the LeBlanc come from?

Grandchildren are rarely pegged as successors to N.F.L. teams. But two of Tom Benson’s three children have died at young ages — a daughter, Tootsie Benson, at 31, and a son, Robert, at 36.

His surviving child, Renee, who is Benson LeBlanc’s mother, runs the family ranch outside San Antonio.

The oldest child of Renee Benson and Russell LeBlanc, Rita was born in Houma, a Cajun outpost in southeast Louisiana perhaps best known as the setting for the Swamp Thing comic books. When she was still an infant, her family moved from the bayou to San Antonio and then to a ranch in nearby Johnson City, the birthplace of Lyndon Johnson. She was eight years old in 1985 when her grandfather—a banker, car dealer, and New Orleans native—purchased the Saints from original owner John Mecom for $70 million.

Benson and his granddaughter started boogying together in 1987, the year of the Saints’ first winning record and playoff appearance. The two have long enjoyed a relationship that speaks of the importance of family, but curiously, Grandpa is about the only relative Benson LeBlanc will discuss. Of her mother, all she says is, “When I was young, she ran the ranch and read to me a lot.” Asked if her father was an influence on her, she hesitates and says, “Not particularly.” Her parents divorced while she was in college. After graduating, she moved to New Orleans to be her grandfather’s apprentice. She wasn’t a football fan then, but she quickly became one.

She has been touted as Benson’s successor ever since he put her in charge of the Arena League’s infant VooDoo team in 2003. (Her mother, Benson’s only living child, has no interest in football, and Rita’s younger brother, Ryan, prefers ranching.) By the end of the VooDoo’s inaugural season, there was more branding in New Orleans Arena than in an entire season of Bonanza, and Benson LeBlanc was named the league’s top executive.

Shred seems to forget you all had to wait some 45 years just to have back to back winning seasons. Funny how that is. Seems like most Falcon fans have that built in FORGETTOR.wink.gif

OH FOR FCK'S SAKE!! You had to wait TWO YEARS for your first win!! You sucked before your magic Gruden season and you've sucked azz since. Talk about FORGETTOR!!

We might have something in common SR, are you a Rangers fan?

Besides our obvious age proximity, illustrating a common ground, I'm not a big fan of the Rangers. Living in Houston, we all pray for the Astros, tough as it may be at times. -_-

Ten wins last year doesn't even reach Matt Ryan's AVERAGE win total of 11 per season.

SUCKY!!

Not making the playoffs before or since... SUCKY!!

With the lockout and Radio as head coach, the Buccs will take a step backwards this year. 9-7. SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCKKY!! :)

That's right. Ice's 11 win per season average is tops in the NFCS over his tenure. Even better than Breesus 9.8 average wins per season.

really?

do you really want to start comparing tenures here?

How many 1st year starters did the Falcons have the last 2 seasons? Last season alone the BUCS had 12 (TWELVE)!rolleyes.gif

It is a fact Dago, wasn't a pissing contest. No need to get your panties in a wad. We know SB and all. For right now Ice is just king of the regular season we get it in the NFCS!

just amuses me how you like to hand pick information to make Falcons players look better than players who have actually carried teams on their back and have post season success

Once again that is not hand picked info. I will pose the question to you so you can answer it with a straight face.

Matty Ice averages 11 wins a season, Breesus averages 9.8 wins a season, is this correct?

2011-january-8-18-35-12_medium.jpg

yup.

now tell me what the means in the big picture? I can put a magnifying glass on any part to get the focus away from what I don't want you to see, but when you step back and look at summation, there is no comparison

I see it differently. Many teams play just to earn a berth in the post season. Winning a bye week is great, and I think you'd play for that right, but if you are risking a hurt player or two and need to rest them for the post season, what's the point?

All it takes is an invitation to the dance....just ask the Packers.

The regular season is only the precursor to getting yourself in a position to make the post season.

DANG!! That sounds SUCKY to me!!:lol:

Wait...That means you'll have 12 second-year starters plus whatever rookies from this year!!?? Sounds like you'll stay SUCKY!!

I thought winning or losing was a team effort, now because during Mattie's tenure the Falcons have a higher regular season winning percentage, it's all of a sudden all due to him? Is winning a QB thing or a team thing?

And just FYI, Brees' Super Bowl MVP trumps everything Mattie has EVER done (up to point that he wins a Super Bowl MVP).

Not to be a dck, but you did read what you just wrote, right? I mean, are a lot of those Saints wins due to Brees' excellence, or "the team"? Would you have won that Super Bowl WITHOUT Brees? Gone to the Super Bowl without Brees?I think you've answered your own question. Of course the QB is the main determinate.

And it DOUBLE trumps the absolute nothing that Freeman has accomplished. But this is a Bash the Falcons board, right?

Whatever can be said negative about Ryan, Freeman hasn't even reached that level yet. But all the bashing/negativity is toward the Falcons here, right!!??

I think the Falcon bashing comes from a high percentage of the Falcon faithful that just spew out BS saying Ryan is better than Elway, etc.

And I do agree that QB most times is the difference, but don't tell that to the Ravens' defense!

Well, most of us strayed from TATF for the same reason y'all congregate here on a Rival Team's Message Board...

We'd rather mix it up with Rivals than slobber over our team with Homers. Unfortunately, we do spend the majority of our time defending our Birds. I'd like to pile jump on a Rival team sometime myself too, you know! B)
